I would say time is short now for Haley to be in the race. I imagine others will cut funds now too?
Super Tuesday coming soon will be the end of the line for most if they have not baled by then.
I can't believe all the all the GOP donors who were around in 2016 learned no lessons whatsoever from it, yes to beat Trump you needed the race to be Trump v one other, but that person should never have been Nikki Haley who has never been that popular with Republicans.
It would be the equivalent of trying to beat Biden in the current Dem primary by investing money in Sinema. Absolutely braindead.
The election this year is unlike any others in recent years. Trump doens't need to spend as much because any time he opens his mouth he gets free airtime on the various news channels - although not for the reasons he might want.
Hailey doesn't need to spend as much either, because all her sound-bites are played for free as the answer to Trumpts comments. In other election years, there were other candidates still in the running before Super Tuesday, so you need a large budget to get your message out against the cacophony of other candidates. This year, it's not needed as much.
It makes sense for Hailey to stay running as long as she can, because if anything were to happen to Trump that prevents him from continuing his run, she is the obvious go to nominee.
Even if Haley drops out and Trump somehow gets access to all of the RNCs money it won’t make a dent in what he owes to the state of New York, the RNC only has about $8M on hand.
Surely it is against some law or staute to use political donations to pay for fines the candidate has incurred? Surely the FEC would have something to say about Trump using donations to pay for his damages to E Jean Carrol?
Even if it did it wouldn’t necessarily stop him from trying, like the living troll he is he’d just point to the FEC coming after him as more evidence of him “being oppressed”
That would/should be a preposterous comment, except, yeah he would actuallly. I can just imagine him proclaiming "The FEC are victimising me!". Of course half his MAGA luvvies don't know who the FEC is, but would cheer any way.
What is really worrying for Trump is that despite Haley not being popular (not sure how true that is) she got 40% of the primary. And many of those that voted for her say they won't vote for Trump.
All the talk after the last election was how Trump would win over the independents. Those numbers suggest he is losing support within the GOP itself
The political make up of the US is approximately 33% Republican, 33% Democrat and 33% swing voters. I would usually call myself democrat leaning, but if the GOP wasn't the complete sh1t show it currently is, and if there was a competent candidate running against Biden, I would give them my vote.
To win a US Presidential election, you need the full support of your base, and get two thirds support from the swing vote. Unless you are part of the Trump cult, I can not fathom how any swing voter could give Trump a vote. 2016 was a kind of social experiment. Swing votes, open minded, time for a change, Trump is not a politico, he is a (successful*) business man, maybe if we ran America like a business, we might do better. I can understand swing voters thinking, you know what, lets give him a go. However, I think it's safe to say the experiment failed, and so those same people will not be happy to give him a second go.
The disintegration of the GOP is almost complete....
Even Junior could not be thick, well maybe........
Pretty sure this means Lara Trump will get the leg up.......
Yes he did.
Not true. You just need to ignore the 40 or so states that are already locked in as red or blue and focus all your energy on persuading the persuadables in the handful of purple states.
Trump won't bother campaigning in, say, Missouri. Biden won't be seen in, say, Vermont. Neither has any reason to go there. Arizona and Michigan by contrast will be absolutely swamped with candidate visits and advertising.
If you limit what he said to the 10 or so swing states what is not true?
He's appealed the ruling. Not sure if they've posted any kind of bond or anything for the appeal (I thought I'd heard that to appeal they would have to essentially submit a bond for the full amount of the judgement).
and tell them to
Is that not basically what I said?
In fairness conservatives have been looking to change that. They did not change it due to been Trump people
People forget Republicans on the FEC deadlocked it from completed its investigation into the stormy daniels hush money case from 2016. So it's not like it's exactly a level headed commission, and while it could go after him and he could scream oppression there's still a reasonable chance they just let him get away with it.
I hadn't thought about that aspect. Thats depressing.
He better put up the money today or he'll have to put up more tomorrow.
This is he real Twitter account of the New York Attorney General completey taking the p1ss out of Trump by adding the interest daily on their Twitter account.
Ah here, they're just highlighting a matter of fact. :)
****ing idiot!
You can see why Trump and his RICO defendants are trying to get that whole case torn apart with allegations against the prosecutor.
“You don’t get the big picture. Trump doesn’t have to get courts to declare him the winner of the vote. He just needs to convince Republican legislatures that the election was systematically rigged, but it’s impossible to run it again, so they should appoint electors instead,” wrote BadgerPundit on November 7, 2020, the day multiple media outlets, including CNN, called the election for Joe Biden.
Yet in his interview with Michigan investigators, Chesebro said the very opposite, claiming that the entire electors plan was contingent on the courts.
“I saw no scenario where Pence could count any vote for any state because there hadn’t been a court or a legislature in any state backing any of the alternate electors,” Chesebro said.

It allows Trump access to more donors who maybe enticed to cough up more dosh than his regular MAGA crew.
Falso in uno, falso in omnibus.
Have a look at her GOP favorability numbers v Trump or RDS and yeah she is not popular. As in a rush typing its simple enough math's, they idolize Trump, they like RDS and are very meh on Haley.
If Trump were to die tomorrow , DeSantis and Vivek unsuspend their campaigns and a few other big hitters get involved. It genuinely would be absolutely fascinating to how it would play out.
Haley getting handed the nomination would be like the Dems forcing out Biden and replacing him with Sinema or Manchin.
