Desi Lydic, you horny hoes.
Only half horny I swear; I'm so out of touch with the Daily Show I hadn't seen her before, she made me laugh and wondered who she was. Female American satirists seem like hen's teeth and with Samantha Bee apparently disappearing into a black hole(?), Lydic seemed like the next most prominent?
It's been explained to you numerous times. Simple question for you, digital penetration constitutes rape in Ireland. Do you object to it being classified as rape? Cause you really seem to think it's not so bad...
Sam Bee got her own show, canceled a year or two back after the warner bros merger.
Oh yeah I know she has (had) her own show and TBH, uh, kinda remember she was a bit of the "it's her turn" side with Hillary Clinton IIRC - but she seemed to disappear of recent years. I guess that'd be the cancellation then, ha.
Ouch!
I remember on the old Boards there used to be a " post of the Day" ... we have a winner
LJ is kicking ass and taking names...
loan sharks? 😂😂
Well on this issue she's coming across as a confused and unprincipled flip-flopper, which is just going to put everyone off...
Trump is also trying to walk back the Alabama ruling. They know it's going to really hurt them. But the evangelical Christians want to get it into Florida next.
Trump - I'm gonna compare myself to Navalny
His advisors - sir, I wouldn't do that
Trump - you're right! I'm more like a *black* Navalny!!
These people truly are the biggest fúcking idiots in power. Clearly nobody had any clue what IVF was or how it worked - or how common it was. But they heard something something embryo gets destroyed and went Quick! Ban it! And now find themselves having to simultaneously come across all Pro Life while accepting IVF has nothing to do with that concept and the objections utterly asinine.
The fact 3 IVF clinics in Alabama have had to shut is depressing and my heart goes out to the couples who have had a routine procedure, taken out of hope to resolve common fertility issues, now upended by religious fundamentalists. Y'all Qaeda indeed.
Dear god, someone come get gramps off the stage.
That cpac looks like a fun get away for a few days.
A good chunk of her party is determined to support putins genocide of Ukraine, she is opposed to that, she recognises putin as a massive threat to the world. In those relative terms I think she is a moderate. I like her foreign policy. It would not be a disaster world if she became president like it would be if Trump gets elected.
But would the project 2025 crowd do their damage if she was president?
Oh I have total faith that Y’all Queda could circle this square by claiming something like: «If they couldn’t get pregnant naturally, then maybe God didn’t want them to.» They probably also have no issue with same-sex couples being denied the chance of using IVF to have children. A likely bonus effect in the Corral-i-phate of Y’all Quada.
The funny thing is, Mike Pence himself has availed of IVF, as he and his wife were having fertility issues. At least one of their sons is the product of IVF.
It's the same as abortion; no matter how much they might ever speak out about it, they'll use it if they need to use it. It's about making it more expensive and difficult for the people they don't want using it.
If they believe not being able to get pregnant is God's will, they should ban viagra. But they'd never do that.
I think MAGA and the Christian Taliban might have gone and screwed the pooch a little here; abortion has and always was a touchy, emotive topic that's easy to manipulate into an antagonistic position but IVF accounts for 2% of birth in the US alone. 8 million total births as well - then there's the many people for whom they tried it and it didn't work. It's a reality and something many avail of, including Christian Conservatives like Mike Pence.
The group are now a demonstrably lunatic faction, this court decision proving to many that there's little to no reality attached to their fundamentalism.
As Penn said Pence has taken IVF so the "god's will" angle won't fly so Alabama has gone and painted the pro-life movement into a corner of its own making.
Anyone know if State SC judgements can be overturned? Or is the next highest court the Federal Supreme Court?
SCOTUS after the state Supreme Courts. Has to be an appeal that shows the judgement violates Constitutional Law, i.e,. State overriding something it shouldn't. Of course, SCOTUS doesn't have to take the case and this will be a very long process, if say an appeal based on the 1st amendment where the decision invokes the Bible, might get it before the Supremes but not before the election is my guess, probably next year at the earliest, they have a big calendar and TFG keeps adding things to it.
Community notes ftw
Finally I have a reason to watch Fox.
I am sure lots of African Americans really appreciate Trump declaring he now appreciates what it is like to be Black in America.
It's also an incredibly lucrative service for the US Medical Industry. Each bout of IVF is tens of thousands of dollars
They won't be happy with the potential loss of revenue of IVF clinics shut down because of this.
Redditors have taken to christening it Talibama
She intends to pardon Trump. Which only signals to the next president who wants to attempt a coup and all yeah this is okay give it a go. It WOULD be a disaster.
Indeed it's not cheap and a committment by the couple of their time, money and... well, bodies over a number of weeks and months to provide the cocktail needed by the lab techs. It's quite the emotional journey, but an inherently positive and hopeful one (as opposed to the crippling emotional turmoil even a "simple" chosen abortion can be). Robbing Alabama couples of this could be a massive vote loss for the GOP as national voters could see it and perceive the regressive conservative agenda writ large.
That's a thundering disgrace and then some. What lunacy tries to argue "fertilisation" as the start of life? Did they morons hear Python's Every Sperm is Sacred and take it to heart?
And then there's a segue tutting that America won't become Gilead and we're hysterical - what else can one call these initiatives?
