How do you expect someone to argue when discussing the known against the unknown?
Edit: haven't really phrased the above very well but hope it sort of makes sense.
So you think Starmer is that way yet you already know that Sunak is that way so how does that make Sunak worse?
The mere fact that he is clearly more competent and has been exerting increasing draconian control over the Labour party for a start. Starmer is most likely in the pocket of big business and I would not be surprised in the slightest to see privatisation, hawkishness, tax breaks for the wealthy to continue under a Starmer government. The only difference, as I said, is that he is competent so at least there would be less chaos.
Starmer's all right! 🤣
Of course there was more to that famous night in Sheffield. Every aspect oozing "victory parade" and people being announced as "the next chancellor/PM etc."
He is a straight white male. Shure don't all us lefty's hate them 🤣
Appoint Boris as EU minister? Give in to DUP demands? I'm running a bit dry on ideas honestly short of possibly his attempt at EU deal renegotiation but the adults in the room (EU) will stop that one.
Could you elaborate on some of the ways in which he could be worse than Sunak?
I think Starmer has a real fear of being a Kinnock. That, and the risk of adverse treatment in the UK by the print media are making him very cautious and possibly controlling. Hope he begins to blossom once he gets into No 10.
It will take a hell of a lot to be worse. The level of corruption, racism and conspiracy nonsense won't be matched or bettered for a long long time.
The UK PM much like the US president is a vote between bad and worse and there is no way Starmer is the "worse" in this vote.
Remember when some got all upset when Sir Starmer was called a red Tory. It’s going to be so funny when the Brits vote him in and he turns out to be worse than Sunak.
2 former Labour independents and a former Labour Reform candidate running with the former 2 being the favourites.
The voting in Rochdale today should be interesting.
The mask has well and truely slipped. The anti-semitism smear campaign against Corbyn is still in motion to gut the Labour party of any kind of opposition to Starmer, who is proving to be every bit as odious as almost any of the Tory MPs.
Another by election incoming by the looks of it.
Scott Benton: Lobbying scandal MP recall petition triggered
Know it's a long read, but this article shows the type of money funding the Tories:
She was head of Rory Stewarts Dept (put in by Cameron in 2014). Brilliant book by Stewart On THe Edge about his time with Tories. He clinically eviscerates Truss (and others).
Protection from catholics if you will. Catholics are not a race nor a nationality but the IRA was linked by religion.
Or even protection from those who believe Ireland should be unified (many of whom would have supported non violent means).
You have no logic, they have protection from extremists. It is not required for the vast majority of Muslims in the UK.
I think Chris Bryant is usually very media savvy but that's a pretty awful clip, which the Greens have jumped on.
Great, so the threat from Islamists is unjustified and therefore no need for any extra security for MP's and so they should all refuse to avail of it.
Islam is not a race or nationality though , something which people have no control over. You can't change your nationality or the colour of your skin.Islam is something you choose to believe and follow it's a belief system/ideology so being suspicious of it is just as justified as being suspicious of any other ideology.
I would also point out that Sadiq Khan famously said "moderate muslims are Uncle Toms", therefore any suspicions about him are justified as those are the words of a fanatic in my opinion.
In Ireland only a child too young, an idiot or someone in a coma for the 20th century could not understand the stupidity and ignorance of an Irish person discriminating against Muslims in the UK on the grounds of terrorism.
Seems contradictory doesn't it.
Not really, no.
To give the rather blindingly obvious comparison, it is the difference between the IRA being a problem and discriminating against all Irish people.
So Islamaphobia is the worst thing in the world according to a lot of MP's yet they are being given bodyguards because of threats from Islamists.Seems contradictory doesn't it.I hope anyone who says Islamaphobia is wrong does not avail of these bodyguards.Although seeing as they are politicians and hypocrisy a key characteristic of all politicians I suspect they will avail of the protection offered.
Lee Anderson has had the whip removed for his racist comments about Khan
Lee Anderson has been suspended from the Conservative Party after making "Islamophobic" comments.
A spokesperson for Simon Hart, the chief whip, said: "Following his refusal to apologise for comments made yesterday, the chief whip has suspended the Conservative whip from Lee Anderson MP."
Pressure had been mounting on Rishi Sunak to act after the MP for Ashfield said he believed "Islamists" had "got control" of Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London.
I like that all you can see either side of her as it zooms out is "DIE"
Both fascist but also a nice commentary on someone dying of embarrassment.
Remember Theresa May, the Dancing Queen??? And how we cringed at that.
I always chuckle when I see that Truss is MP for a constituency in Norfolk because she'd give Alan Partridge a good run for his money in the cringe department.
Absolutely not, leaving her in the party is de facto endorsing this nonsense. Let her fuel her conspiracy theories as in independent backbench MP.
If Sunak was anything other than the pathetically weak stand-in PM that he is Truss and Anderson would be out on their ear already.
Could you imagine the uproar from the Conservative ranks if a senior Democrat came out and supported Starmer?
It's really quite incredible that a tenth rate backbencher like her with zero interpersonal skills became Foreign Secretary and then PM.
Jesus I forgot she was still an MP.
A sitting member of the ruling party should be absolutely nowhere near these fringe clown show circuits and certainly should not be spreading conspiracies about the countries central bank.
Expelling her would only give her more publicity and fuel her conspiracy theories. I assume she wont be a Tory candidate in the next GE, as she has no chance of being elected. Better just to let her wither for a few months and then she'll disappear.
