Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
..
The Mysterines playing in Whelans on 18th October. Highly recommended if you like grungey drop D type stuff.
Also not quite Ireland but I find this quite funny
Metal isn't quite right for these guys, blackgaze is the description I saw that sounds best. Either way, they're awesome! (Saturday night too)
By the way I heard on good authority that capacity for Dreamland is mentioned as 1000.
Deadly, looking forward to seeing what the set up is like inside
Wonder will it be harder for them to come back after a year off. Guess Beyond the Pale being on same weekend didn't help things.
Interesting article about similar issues promoters are facing here, rising costs etc.
Yeah, just got one there. Can't wait to see some of that stuff live.
Kings Of Leon, Marlay Park, July 6 2024
Gigs at the top end are alive and well despite the rising costs
Source? That'll be a great gig. Saturday thank god
i saw it on nme earlier
It surely is. Horrible condition the whole live music industry is in. I read recently that the first 11 venues that the Arctic Monkeys played have all closed. Imagine a vista where the Dublin scene consisted only of the 3Arena and up, all those money spinning Summer outdoor joints, no Whelan's, Button Factory, Workman's Grand Social etc. I don't think that's impossible. We need to be supporting the small venues and the acts that play there.
Class. Looking forward to that. Missed them in 3arena last time
War on Drugs supporting. That's a decent day out.
Blaggh - was hoping WoD would turn up this year but not at this. While I washed by hands of KoL a while back, their new song is decent and closer to what was in their first 3 albums
Guess better that they show up here as support than not at all. With playing Trinity last year didn't think they'd be doing a headline gig here this summer
“Our digital world empowers artists to develop global followings, while inspiring fans to crave in-person experiences more than ever. At the same time, the industry is delivering a wider variety of concerts which draws in new audiences, and developing more venues to support a larger show pipeline.” Rapino added: “Against this backdrop, we expect all our businesses to continue growing and adding value to artists and fans as we deliver double-digit operating income and AOI growth again this year, with our profitability compounding by double-digits over the next several years.”
Yeah, this guy absolutely LOVES music. Wanker.
Skipping their way to Marlay Park on July 6th.
And if small venues do close down, who's going to be playing the big venues in ten years time?
Hopefully it's not the case. Probably a skewed view in this thread, but I think there's still loads of people who are passionate about new music and supporting smaller venues and bands. Hopefully...
He loves one thing and one thing only, money, 139m he made last year.
He is destroying live music.
Friday night in Whelans
Mike Watt's (Minutemen/Firehose/The Stooges) band, Il Sogno Del Marinaio, are in the Grand Social, Friday 7th June: https://secure.tickets.ie/Listing/EventInformation/45466/il-sogno-del-marinaio-ft-mike-watt-the-grand-social-7-June-2024
Seen them before and i shall probably see them again, barring clashes.
Anyone any idea of the cost of King's of Leon tickets?
Must be doing a tour. Also playing the RCC Letterkenny on Saturday June 8th.
Gig caught my attention. Will check it out.

Assume it’ll be a pretty short set if they are supporting?
What an amount of gigs for ROI in 2024
Edit: I thought The Vaccines might support them in Dublin, like they were in London, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Every year will be like this I expect. Artists need to for revenue nowadays
