Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
Frankly the Media are morons and paid off by certain factions.
Fools and their money are easily parted.
Welcome to Ireland 2024 where fraud is rampant.
No thanks
Ticketmaster must be shaking seeing this idea
if fools want to part with money to a grifter they will.
anyone with half a brain knows that ticketmaster monopoly not going to be broken by a Instagram page
In fairness the media usually needs a few people who have been scammed to call into liveline to gain any traction.
Is there evidence out there that this guy / girl is a scammer? Don't get me wrong. It looks as legit as a four pound note but if I'm going to report it (which I would like to do) I'd like to have some backup. Is he / she connected to the instagram account of the same name and if so is there evidence of the scamming? Again - it's not that I don't believe it, it's just that I'd like more than hearsay to go on.
Someone offering a ticketing platform that will offer presales to major events is itself a scam. Snake oil nonsense.
the biggest promoter in ireland is MCD which is owned by live nation aka ticketmaster. So anyone with raising money to compete with them is offering a miracle cure.
also pretty sure they competitions they were previously running had bogus winners but that’s hard to prove in itself
Yep. It's the hard to prove piece that is stalling me.
Tell you what thinking you can dump 100 grand into a ticketing system and take down Ticketmaster is hilarious
They “leaked” the AC/DC date as being in July they say before it was announced (because there was a batch of leaked dates which suggested this), before editing their post when they got it wrong. They’ve got loads of stuff wrong, they just edit or delete the prediction when it doesn’t come to fruition
Kneecap playing GIAF in July, not sure if this was already announced.
Bless. Believe me, we stand out.
Done. This gives genuine fundraisers a bad name.
It was a few months back alright
anyone know if whelans ever add extra tickets to a sold out gig? need 2 extra for Angie Mcmahon in June.
Hiya, this is legit a scam. I was scammed out of money along with 100’s of others. We have a WhatsApp group of people who were scammed. We contacted a paper who was due to report on it but didn’t.
Sorry to hear that you were scammed. And fair play to you for trying to raise awareness of it. Could I suggest you report them on gofundme too?
Not music but Dylan Moran doing a surprise gig in the Róísín tonight. Bad reports recently but for €12 it’s worth a gamble.
The epitome of a roll the dice comedian.
Two of his shows were the closest I've come to walking out of a comedy gig (and I go to a lot of comedy gigs every year). But every now and then, it's a good show.
‘You’ll get a choose of tickets” the giveaway that it’s likely a site of Russian origin or similar.
Announced in early Dec, a big crowd of us going along to see if they’ve improved from EP 2023. They’re very smart lads but I don’t hear it in the material. Yet.
A rough estimate of the crowd at Dream Wife were circa 40/45% over the age of forty. Standard for most Róísín Dubh gigs irrespective of the act. Same with Fat Dog last Friday and also for Monroes locally and Dolans in Limerick.
Others here that attend these venues should confirm that. I’m less clear about Dublin or Cork venues.
Always hit and miss but i'd take him over Tommy Tiernan any day of the week. I caught his interview on Tiernan's show and i got the distinct impression that he had Tommy pinned as a spoofer from the off (and yes i know all the history; town, school etc.).
I won’t be going due to childcare stuff but for €12 it’s definitely worth a look. Caught him at Latitude 2007 and unimpressed but I’d give him a look anytime at that price.
That may well be the case but we stand out. "Who the f*ck are these old gimmers". Especially at a gig like Problem Patterns (which is really what i was getting at). You need to be more self-aware Seath 😉
Marquee announcing another act at 10am. Potentially an international one maybe
Nile Rogers & Chic it is
Maybe you’re more self-conscious than I @Dreamweapon . Or maybe you’re attending venues with a younger demographic. The gig-going public in Galway is more varied and older than I was used to in London. For Dream Wife/Problem Patterns circa two-fifths of the crowd were over forty. For many gigs at the Róísín/Monroes/Black Box that older demographic can make up two-thirds of attendees.
Venues like The Loft, Cellar and Arás na nGael have a younger demographic.
Christ I hope not! ;)
Yeah, I definitely think I'd stand out at Problem Patterns. Not that I imagine anyone would care, I certainly won't, but I bet I'm not their standard demographic 😋
Self conscious? No. More a case of young folk see a bunch of old bastards whether we wish to accept this or not! Just a bit of fun on my part, not a serious discussion of demographics and reactions thereof. In saying that, the last Jane Weaver gig i attended was, surprisingly, full of people who appeared to be much older than me. Either they were very old or i'm holding up very well in my advancing years.
Fat Dog on Saturday early evening in the Róísín. Nine of us there, two missing from the shot, none will see the other side of forty and only two aged under fifty. And this is for a band barely into their twenties who’ve only released music this year.
