I'd like bjsc to comment on below. My understanding from what she said here is that she didn't in fact have the full Garda investigation file
She made it clear that she was working on limited information mainly the French trial evidence and other docs and that there was a lot more info she didn't have access to
"Three years ago, she contacted the gardaí’s prime suspect, the late Ian Bailey, who, along with his solicitor Frank Buttimer, gave her the garda investigation file that identified him as the prime suspect for Sophie’s murder, and other records."
Pretty scary when you think about it... the French file is limited... and they used it as the basis for a murder trial. A total kangaroo court.
And nobody has the full Garda investigation file not even the Guards as it was tampered with.
OK here goes. Time of death is not, in the majority of cases, an exact science. Many factors come into play. The most commonly used indicators are temperature and rigor mortice. In this case more than 24 elapsed between the time Sophie's body was found and the time Harbison arrived from Dublin. So any chance of obtaining a core body temperature was long gone. Interestingly he makes a comment in his report that, had she been killed nearer to the time her body was found, she would have been warm to the touch. However I can find no evidence that anyone actually did touch her. I fact both Dr O'Connor and Father Cashman are at pains to state that they did not touch her to avoid contaminating the scene.
Rigor is more difficult as external conditions can affect its onset and disappearance. All we do know is that when Harbison first examined her rigor was pronounced in the neck and one elbow but was wearing off in the other. Rigor commences in the muscles of the neck and jaw and proceeds down the body andcwears off in reverse order so the neck would be one of the last places in which rigour would be present.
Her stomach contained fruit and yellow fruit skins and possibly nuts. Harbison states that this had been consumed at most 3 hours before her death. For the Garda theory of death at @ 02.30 to be true she would have to have consumed this no later than 23.30. As her husband spoke to her at around 23.00 when she was already in bed this seems unlikely although not impossible.
Once a person dies the body ceases to break down food and alcohol. Therefore her alcohol levels at postmortem would be the same as when she died. We know she had 2 glasses of red wine with Tomi Ungerer on the afternoon of 22nd and I think we can assume that she had at least one more at home during the evening as there was a glass with red wine dregs on the mantlepiece in her sitting room. Had she died around 02.30 it is therefore possible that she would still have had alcohol products in her system. There were none.
The problem we have with all of this is that no one seems to have been asked what her normal routine was. Her husband says that she would probably have had bread, cheese and a glass or 2 of red - none of which were in her system.
Hope this helps.
Every reply you make you shift the discussion onto different issues for reasons known only to yourself
What's the french trial being a kangaroo court or the missing pages got to do with my point about the Garda investigation file
Absolutely. I'm not sure if it was my mistake or if it was the paper's editing. What I have is everything that the Garda sent to France together with copies of all the investigations and interviews that the French authorities undertook. I also have copies of the paperwork from both the libel and false arrest trials which contains statements not included in the file which was sent to France. As I have said previously unless or until someone is charged with Sophie's file we are unlikely ever to see the entirety of what the Garda has as there is no legal obligation for them to disclose it
Thankyou for confirming
It's the Indo so they probably just printed it without checking
Bjsc many thanks for your imput into this forum.
Yes MVP so far on this thread
Would it be common practice that the Gardai/police hold back information in order to trap/incriminate a suspect by revealing knowledge only known to the killer(s)?
Does every reply to a post have to be directly in response? Im not aware of any such requirement. It is entirely valid to pickup on a point to make a separate one. Have you never done so yourself?
My reply was relevant to the topic of the thread and it was clear that it was posted in that spirit.
The Garda investigstion file is not intact. It was tampered with as established by GSOC. In a discussion of the file it is relevant to point this out.
So your claim is rejected as an utterly false accusation, completely without merit or foundation.
In the last hour I posted short excerpt from the independent article on the implications of the gate being opened as well as several other direct replies to the points under discussion. And that is just tonight.
I have been posting on this thread from the very beginning, including excerpts from the DPP report which you appeared unfamiliar with only a month or so ago.
I'm not reading all that^
Maybe just post and not reply to me if you're discussing matters unrelated to my post
Obviously
Sure it's in media reports constantly
"Gardai not releasing info for operational reasons"
By the way everyone did my proof of identity come through. I haven't had any confirmation from Father Umptious or bflat.
Foolish to ask what it might be in this case..
Think so
I figured you were the real deal from your original postings anyhow
I imagine that if it exists they would probably have tried to utilise it before now.
Take a look at the screenshot
What's that mean
"Operational reasons" can means lots of things i guess
There seems no benefit in the gardai putting all information into the public domain anyhow
You're logged into the LinkedIn account, is that the proof ?
Or am I mistaken
She's got a new middle name 😄
Ah see so is it confirmed proof then
I'm not that good understanding this stuff
There was no indication that she was anything other than genuine from her postings anyway
I appear to have changed my name to Todd Umptious. 🤣🤣🤣
Not sure if it's been asked yet. But could you outline the 3 most likely theory's in your opinion.
I've not bothered to look, I'll check LinkedIn now
Nope.
The (Todd Umptious) is missing from it when I search in LinkedIn.
Is it the case that she apparently changed the name on LinkedIn and then changed it back again?
Therefore it's still not proven who she is ?
I can't follow this stuff anyhow , is that the issue ?
That's a difficult one and I truly don't want to speculate but I will pose a few questions.
I have been to Sophie's house and no matter how much you have studied maps and photos and Google earth nothing can really convey how isolated it is. The lane is really no more than a track which is easy to miss. There are no signposts and the 3 houses can't be seen from the road. The lane/track goes nowhere, it ends at the gate where she met her death. So, for me, whoever went there must have been reasonably familiar with the area.
Sophie rarely, if ever, visited on her own. All the anecdotal evidence suggests that she normally visited 2 or 3 times a year with friends and family. In fact this may have been the first time she came alone. She had asked several people to accompany her but, being so close to Christmas, no one was free. So very few people knew that she was, unusually, on her own. Even had she been seen alone between the time of her arrival and her death there could be no certainty that there weren't other people at the cottage.
The weapons used seem to be whatever was to hand which suggests that whatever happened was not premeditated.
As I have said before murders, generally, are very prosaic. That is not in any way intended to diminish the tragedy but the honest truth is that stranger murders, hired assassins, serial killers roaming the countryside are unbelievably rare. To put it in its most basic terms most murders occur because one person loses their temper with another.
I'll leave it there but please get back to me with any questions.
Not sure where you're looking but it's there now.
Believe me it's still there.
