Tesla do set the price and it's 2k.
I'm older than I care to admit and have never paid anyone to rotate my tyres. Until about 3 years ago I used to do it with a scissor jack and a few blocks of wood. Then I got soft and invested in a trolley jack. However if I don't rotate in time and front have worn a bit too much I just let them wear out and replace front 2 only. Not sure it makes a massive difference to overall longevity of tyres and I agree if paying €90 to rotate theres very little if any saving to be made.
My mistake so. I understood that it is 3k more expensive to purchase the red m3 than the white one.
OK I've made the rookie error of test driving an MP3!! Short test drive so didn't properly get to experience the poor quality roads around me but didn't feel too rough on reasonably decent rural roads. In fairness though its a great drive, serious acceleration, appreciably more than an LR. Only issue I had with car is mileage is over 85k km which means out of general warranty and limiting the balance left on battery warranty which would impact the sell on value in a few years time. Time to frae a breath and think rationally!
Order the car in white, it's €41,832; order it in red, it's €45,058 - difference €3,226!
It's down to the sliding VRT relief on cars with OMSP between 40k and 50k. If the OMSP was more than 50k or less than 40k then, yes, red would cost 2k extra!
Yes, I'm fully aware of all that. As I said Tesla charge 2k for Red. It's not 3k as was mentioned. Saying 3k is a rip off isn't accurate. Blame the government for the extra cost.
You're correct it does cost the purchaser about 3k, but a large amount of that is down to vrt. I'm aware I'm being pedantic btw.😶
Can I get an opinion on tyres?
My 2022 RWD has recently gone over the 30k klms mark. Rear tyres were coming up to needing a change but I noticed a screw in the outer shoulder, so I should replace this corner very soon.
I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4 - [235/45/18] at the moment.
OPONEO have these at €207 per corner.
They also have Primacy 4 at €159 per corner, which seem to rate better overall except for a speed rating 20kmh less than the former. I would replace all 4 corners if going for these, as I have a very slow puncture in a front tyre that loses about 1psi per week.
Any recommendations?
What would it cost to wrap a car in the red colour? I see one near me on the road, probably a legacy M3, in an orange/ copper type shade which looks well. Has to be an aftermarket job
The original poster is correct. Changing to Red adds an additional 3,226 to be precise. It relates to how VRT is calculated but he is right !
Join the club. 😀. My model 3 tyres appear to be wearing evenly each side. Of course rear more than front. I will change the back 2 fairly soon at about 35k. Front have very little wear so will change those 2 later if I still have car. Couldn’t be bothered rotating, cannot really see the purpose.
Tracking is still excellent on the car. Makes for very relaxed driving. Most other cars I drive including the wife’s Ioniq 5 follow the camber of the road even with perfect tracking. Camber does not seem to affect the Model 3.
That's what I meant. It's 3k to me more.
It's a lovely colour but not worth that much extra. I'll be ordering in white.
Full PPF on a M3 is about 5 grand...so add in a few hundred extra for more exotic colour wraps...a flat colour will be cheaper than a metallic in a crazy colour.
PS4’s are a performance tyre, Primacy’s are more of an every day tyre. They both have pro’s and con’s but are both great options. They are some of the best tyres you can buy.
Firstly, my apologies if this question is not in the right section. Complete EV/Tesla newbie.
I'm off to England in a few days and I've hired a Tesla model 3 while I'm there. What do I need to have downloaded to my phone beforehand with regards to charging either at Tesla chargers or 3rd party charging sites.
Many thanks.
Do you know how much would the rental company charge you for using the Superchargers? If it is acceptable price probably you don't need anything else. Otherwise for looking up other chargers use zap-map which is quite popular in the UK. Find chargers around your destination and check what is needed to use them. Make sure you know the battery level you need to return the car at and plan for it.
I know all that, you need to read my posts again. 🧐
Just to add to the above. There was a little bit of water in the frunk storage area of this M3P which I wasn't expecting. Could this be an indication of a misaligned frunk or a damaged seal? Not being able to rely on the Tesla general warranty to fix these issues is one of my concerns with going for a car with over 80k kms
Which M3P did you test drive?
You’re mixing up PPF and a wrap. A color wrap could be fully done for under €2k using 3M or Hexis or many other well known branded wraps.
It was a 2021 mic car
We are running the ePrimacy and they are noticeably softer. They felt a bit vague at normal pressure on the high speeds but I'm running them at 3.1 bars now which fixed it without affecting the ride noticeably. But I'd recommend to go for PS4 or some other slightly sporty tyres.
I bought a set of 19's with Continental sport contact 6's. They're are just as comfortable as the 18 inch Ps4's but noticeably quieter. I'll be replacing with the Conti's when the time comes.

I guess the price V warranty has to be considered?
Is a further warranty worth a certain figure more? There’s one or 2 Performances for sale with longer warranties but of course, prices higher.
There shouldn’t be any in there. But it could be as similar as a rubber seal or maybe recently cleaned and the valet was a bit over enthusiastic!
Thanks. I've ordered 2 of the primacy for the rear which need changing soon and sooner because of the screw stuck in the shoulder.
Maybe I will shell out for the PS4s when doing the front tyres then, as that's where i'll need the better performance.
Honestly, I wouldn't bother with the Ps4's. I just don't get the hype. I've had them on a few cars now and they're terrible in cooler temperatures and I find them very noisy. Much better out there for less imo.
I want to keep a good tyre on the car and a quieter ride is definitely welcome. I know some tyres make for a much noisier ride, especially at higher speeds, or in the wet. Do you have a specific recommendation I should consider? It won't be too long before I am replacing the front boots.
You have the primacy on the back so I would go with them for the front. I suppose my point was that I just don't feel the Ps4's are worth the extra cost.
I have 4 x Conti sport contact 6 ev tyres on my 3 and they're much quieter than the Ps4's they replaced. Comfort levels are similar, grip is good, but the first thing I noticed was the reduction in noise. Tyres had similar thread levels too (upgraded to 19's after about 15k and wheels came with the Continental).
Sorry for confusion. The car I drove wasn't for sale, it was a friend of a friends car who let me have a short spin to see how it compared to an LR.
I have been looking mostly at LRs on DD but after that spin I had a quick scan and see most M3Ps are 2020 cars. Id like a 2021 with the heat pump and revised uberturbine wheels with a bit of general warranty left, as well as the max left on battery warranty, to deal with issues like the leaking frunk in the car I drove. As you say in the end it's a balance between length of warranty and price and I suppose if it worth paying extra for the P over the LR. Head and heart
