Russians in Moscow are lining up to lay flowers in memory of Alexei Navalny at a memorial to Gulag victims outside the FSB headquarters.
Justified praise
Independent countries have a right to apply to join whatever organizations they wish. The feelings of Russia should not dictate what countries no longer under their control decide to do. Given how Russia treated them it's very understandable countries look for protection against them and to break away from economic reliance on them.
Ironically enough, the expansion of NATO to include Finland triggered by Russia's actions.
Yep another genius move from Putin, his aggression led to two nations who previously hadn't an intention of joining NATO to do so. Now NATO can put defense systems in Finland all because of him.
Also very noticeable the countries previously under Russian control who integrated most with the West eg Estonia, Poland, Lithuania etc are the one's who are doing well. The one's like the Stans and Ukraine, Armenia remain poor and often still under dictatorship. Can't blame Ukraine for looking at the progress of others and want to join up to that.
Yeah, not getting rid of him because the next guy might be worse doesn't sound like a great plan.
Not that we can do much about it, except hope.
Good article on Navalny and his heroism
Finland and Russia have a friendship treaty signed in 1990 (or so), although near-daily threats of nuclear and other types of annihilation leads me to suspect Russia isn't taking the friendship very seriously.
Brave. All of those citizens probably have a target on their backs now.
Orwell Road not happy with Leos assertions on the death of Navalny
Not just any old country either but a gigantic border along Russia.
Whoops.
Yet to hear the chattering Bothsideists, Ukraine was some buffer state born from NATO empire games; what's a Russia to do except invade them to ... wel, that parts never clear but look over there! Ukraine's corrupt!
Does it surprise in the slightest? The modern American right has simply started saying the quiet part loud.
Stupid to answer,Leo statement would be ignored by most people but is now of interest due to the reply.
What is unacceptable and unconscionable is that they are still on Orwell road and not ejected
I saw the article on the BBC news on TV and it said nothing about a major collapse in the Ukrainian lines in Adiivka as claimed by the poster I was replying to but thanks for trying to answer for them.
Zelensky should be open to seeking a peace deal, intead of leaving a peace deal off the table and travelling around the world canvassing for more funds. There are literally thousands of his troops in a perilous life or death scenario in Adiivka today! because of his leadership decisions
Seems that not all is well on the Orban front either, thinks are hotting up with large protests and calls for his resignation because of some dirty business involving a child molester being
pardoned.https://twitter.com/i/status/1758553382720082289
What "peace deal" is on offer?
What "peace deal" should he be looking for?
Would this "peace deal" mean letting Russia keep the land it has so far stolen and a promise of never joining NATO?
Why should Ukraine seek a "peace deal"?
"thousands of his troops in a perilous life or death scenario"
Are Russian troops not in the same position? Why aren't you calling for Russia to seek a "peace deal"?
😂😂
Absolutely, he should be looking for a peace deal with minimum terms of
1. Return of all kidnapped Ukrainian children and adults
2. Complete withdrawal of all Russian personnel to 1991 borders
3. Full reparations for all Russian activities in Ukraine since 2014
4. Putin's head on a platter - this one could be negotiable
Classy as always margarita.
It's started. Already there are reports of an arrest of someone who was placing a poster on the makeshift memorial to Navalny in Moscow, but it seems that there's memorials appearing right across Russiaand people gathering ,,,,could Putin have finally crossed the line?
There is no peace deal on offer as Zelensky has said he not open to peace talks.
Russia are not in a perilous position in Adiivka
Ukraine should consider a peace deal because maybe the alternative is worse
What possible reason after 2 years is there for retaining them? Any Irish individuals or businesses in Russia have surely had adequate warning long ago to get their affairs in order. If they've chosen not to, we no longer have any duty of care to them and don't need diplomatic links.
He might comment on the fact that Russians are reduced to putting anonymous messages on supermarket price tags to have a voice.
What would this "peace deal" entail?
A little more subtle kremlin crap, but not by much. Still Kremlin crap nonetheless.
Maybe its not though eh?
In any case Putin has stated quite recently that his aims haven't changed. Demilitarisation\DeNazification of Ukraine completely. It will involve handing over the annexed territories(Ones he doesn't currently control) and never joining NATO as a pre-requisite.
And in any case what use is a peace deal with Putin? Someone who's primary defining personality trait is breaking agreements?
You're either extremely naive or a Kremlin apologist. I'd bet the former. They're out in force today eh? Is it a Navalny thing I wonder or is there more good news in the making?🤔
....
Putin has crossed many lines, this one will make no difference.
