Wasn't it that whole barter thing with RTE hotels gave rooms for exposure but also with other companies say they gave hotel rooms to companies for exchange of IT work things like that. No money changing hands.

Irish radio is obsessed with hotel stays. It's a massive content filler for them.

I don't mind Foley too much.
Got to say though, the drop-off in quality to the filler-in guys is really very stark. They've Paula Mac in for Ian all the past week. Shudder... that shrill hyperactivity in the morning is just *way too much*.
Then they've had Stephen Daly in for Foley. His style is very by the numbers... that was Rhiana, up next we have Sheeran, etc... he couldn't be more different from the guy he's filling in for. And his attempts at "content creation" seem forced and unnatural. And they still play out the "Ray Foley show" jingles... I would say Dara Q is a more natural filler-in for Foley.
I agree...he was doing the same schtick with JP in the afternoons back in 2006...he needs to grow up.
Thing is, when he first joined TodayFm circa 2004, he did a late-night show called The Blast that I always listened to. He is much better on his own - I think him and JP drag each other down.

No thanks. Foley is great in the afternoon. Without him the only shows I'd listen to on Today FM are BRB and Claire Beck at weekends.
Foley would welcome the morning slot and would be good for him. He has a different format than his afternoon show and it suits him better. He is less zany on morning times but still energetic and a good laugh.
True I used to listen to him the odd time and was good, he didn't have jp with him so maybe all that nonsense stuff is down to that combo.
Just on Foley on Red FM, he was actually excellent on there, nothing like his buffoon carry on at the moment.
He played music (not all the same crap either which Red FM is guilty of), he was funny and charismatic and normal!
Foley didn't go down too well at breakfast on 98 and Red. I think he is just another flavour of ego filled Marmite like Ryan Tubridy. Seeing as he has just lost yet another couple of thousand listeners and Dave Moore has one of the highest ever midday audiences on the station in its history, I think it would be wise to put Dave on mornings with a strong team around him. He had a successful time at 98 with Dermot and Siobhan.
It would make sense for Dave to get breakfast. The best bet would be Dave IMHO.
One thing about him Ive noticed over the years loves getting free stuff and using the radio to do so.
Eventually he will be put on an evening slot or the weekend Rock hour of something like that. He's lucky that Jennifer Zamparelli is up against him otherwise his listenership would take a dive. He's not got much competition in that slot.
Yup he's done the breakfast show on RedFm so it's the natural replacement and you need someone with a bit of life in the morning.
I can see Foley getting it. They’ve gotten him to cover for Ian before. And that was the show he always wanted to come back to TodayFM for.
I can see Dave Moore getting the breakfast show within the next few years, if Ian does decide to move on.
Ian Dempsey gave up years ago, his show is a complete shadow of what it was.
He seems to be on leave. Paula is in for Ian, Stephen’s in for Ray and Darragh is in for Paula.
Is Foley covering anyone, or just off on holidays? Wasn't there late last week either.
The latest JNRL figures that suggest 230,000 people listen to Dave Moore on a daily basis brings this to mind
