You can see it's bigger as soon as you look inside, or sit in it.

Definitely roomier inside but the interior is far cheaper looking than say a MK7.5 Golf. Penny pinching is very evident.

Which is what I have, the tunnel on the Golf is the annoying part which I think is gone on the ID.3

Fixed by driving around and lashing into some emergency braking. Cleans the rotors up apparently.

Got notice on my 232 id3 pro yesterday to say pressure down on right rear tyre, pulled in and looked at it seemed ok, drove slowly to nearest garage

checked left rear tyre first pressure 41psi, then right rear was down to 33 pumped up to 41psi, then set the tyres on front display, checked this morning no warning both on car or on vw app.

Do i need to do anymore? think i have airstop tyres! seems to be a bit of confusion ie do i need to contact the vw dealer etc, appreciate replies

No you've told the car pressures are as you want them and if it deviates again the car will tell you.

41 is very high though isn't it, I keep my tyres about 35 all around

Discs. Charging to 100% helps too as there's no electric motor braking available and the discs get a good cleaning off.

much bigger and feels a lot more spacious. In back is very roomy because of high sitting position. Boot also a little bigger.

ID3 has a longer wheelbase, is wider and taller than the Golf - so significantly bigger inside. Inside space isn't too far off that of the Passat which is a much bigger car. Autodimensions comparison site is quite good for comparing relative car sizes.

    Hey all.

I was wondering if someone with an ID.3 could compare the image of my reverse camera to their own. Just so I can get an idea if I'm in the wrong here.

Back story is I was buying an ID.3 and wanted the camera, the dealer fitted one to a car that didn't have one. The problem is the orange line is nowhere near the actual location of the car. The red line in the photo is the actual location. I'm thinking it's either not the original VW camera (it's also a total grainfest but I could live with that) or it's been fitted incorrectly.

    What do you reckon?

    thanks!

I'm not familiar with the ID.3 camera specifically, but if it was a VW main dealer who fit the camera, they should have used the OEM part. Anyone else, they could fit anything.

My comments as someone who works with them every day....

    1. It at the wrong angle in terms of tilt, so much so that it's actually misleading as to where you will drive. The overlays are useless.
    2. Its tilted to the right and shouldn't be
    3. The car symbol at the top is not an ID.3
    4. It look as though it's being interfered with by a number plate light?
    5. It's very noisy, but otherwise works fairly well in low light.

How much did you pay for the install?

The factory part will absolutely be available from VW (the link below is not correct, but an example of what they would provide) and the dealer should have instructions on how to code it to the car. It expensive for sure, but IMO if it was a MAIN VW dealer, they should do you a bit of favour on the labour since this is a fairly rubbish install.

Most likely your dealer outsourced the job to a local auto electronics specialist. Camera supplied is probably the cheapest they could get. It could be hard to tell the difference as the genuine VW one isn’t great to start with.

The yellow lines move with the steering wheel - line them up on the green to park it straight-

Thanks all. I've figured it out, it's not the original camera.

The OEM camera is supposed to be installed under the VW logo from the boot handle, my one has been installed above the reg plate. It was a VW dealer (Frank Keane) so its pretty annoying. They didn't charge me but it installed because I'd been let down on another car I had wanted. Anyway something to be aware of for anyone else looking to get a camera installed. Two more photos there showing the camera and a brush pole showing where the actual side of the car is. Annoying.

Thanks, yea that's what I was beginning to suspect. But it seems they just lashed on whatever they had knocking around.

If it's really annoying you, you could ask them to install the official version, and it would probably cost around €4-500.

There might be a way to disable the overlays, but it would depend on the camera.

To be honest, I'm pretty surprised that Frank Keane installed an aftermarket camera in the first place. VW certainly would approve of that kind of work, especially if the car is under warranty.

Thanks. They installed it because of some confusion about another car I’d actually wanted. Giving them the benefit of the doubt for the moment, it seems they out source the camera installations and this company fitted this one, so it could be a genuine mistake. With the quality being rubbish too though I’ve asked for the OEM camera. They’re looking into it for me at the moment.

Chances of picking a non life id3 for c18k in the next few months?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 7,156 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Yeah for sure. Private sale should be almost achievable now.

Surely you would get that one below for 19k no questions asked? If you push it, maybe 18 although I would say it wouldn't be accepted straight away.

i saw that car for sale in october or november. i'd say there's a good chance the seller would eventually accept closer to 18k.

I was offered 15k for a 202 reg ID.3 1st in the last week as a trade in.

So 18k shouldn't be far away if buying one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,178 ✭✭✭TheMilkyPirate

I've never bought a car from a dealer before. Surely a good bit of wiggle room in a car they have up for 20/21k if they're only offering 15k trade in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,088 ✭✭✭Clo-Clo

Not really. If they are putting the car on the forecourt they are adding warranty etc. They will also do any repairs etc.

ID3Pro 232 reg , accident yesterday, person bumped into the back of me, he was apologetic, gave insurance details etc, said completely his fault, genuine guy, if posssible bring to a workshop he recommended etc, as he will pay does not want to go through his insurance.

My only issue is, should i bring to vw dealer i bought from as car is only 6 months old, i know if i bring to side street garage repair will be circa 300eu.

it is scratches to the paintwork above rear bumper. Drove car today to check for rear camera views , back sensors all seem ok.

Looking for advice should i bring to VW in case their may be other issues down the rd. & my 3yr warranty is invalidated.

If i bring to VW for repair and they repair damage will that ensure my warranty continues if issues down the line.

    Appreciate advice pls

Bring it where suits you best, not what suits someone else best.

Go through VW to keep all above board.

Are you on PCP by any chance?

Has anyone looked at trading your 58 Kw for a Tour at current prices? Wondering what sort of cost to change you might have been offered.

Mine is a 212 Pro family, about 35 K on the clock. Very similar are asking about 26/27 K on Carzone.ie (I know, probably not selling at that price). ROTR for Pro S Plus is currently €44,875. Thoughts on cost to change?
