Agree what your saying and this is just a poster trying to get a rise all the time, Stanfit trying to engage is foolish, from working at cows for many years and listening to a very wise man from castletroy in Limerick who with his two brothers milked a lot of cows in 60,70, 80s always said it’s easier to milk a good cow than to look at a bad one everyday when I was farm apprentice back in the day. A good friend in the Naul use to say the same about feeding bullocks a bad one eats as much as a good one and he and his brother were two wise men.
It's grand for feeding, breaks up lovely in a tub feeder, cows can't sort it, useless for bedding, you'd nearly need two bales of oaten to one bale of winter/spring barley straw, when bedding
Oaten straw is harder and rougher with less soakage abilities...... it is however much better than no straw
Is oaten straw that bad for feeding and bedding? Was told there was oaten straw for me this year if I wanted
Loaded oaten bales earlier, onto a lorry that where going to wicklow, 2 and a half hour plus spin, was costing the man getting them 280 euro a ton/45 euro a bale before transport, its crazy money but he was delighted to get them
Speaking of rent,This fella is living rent free inside your head if you think you need to prove anything to him
In the next couple of days I’m going to send you some fairly sensitive and private information about my leases
if I do will you confirm without mentioning how much I actually pay for land in my area
im asking you to put your money where your mouth is
I can’t answer that question because I’m offered land ever year that I don’t want- I treat land like my own- I gaureentee that soil index’s and phs increase and if they don’t I can be thrown out of the land - if I look after the land it’s more beneficial to me as I will grow more tonnage of dm per ha- but also if the land owner wants to sell it it will be beneficial to them
referral is the best advertisement you can get
24 years ago we took on poorly drained low index land - we drained it and raised indexes to 4:4- maize ground
long story short was that the land was sold for 24000 an acre- we still have the rent of the land
Its a pity u didnt farm in east meath with stan as much land as u want for less than 250 acre
Do u really think lad everyone believes you can rent as much land as u want in east meat for less than 250 acre ur talking pure waffle you cant even answer a simple question what will happen if you cant get land to rent.
I couldnt agree morpe whelan people have a very narrow view and id say fair play get a gd rent and take it easy probably tax free farm will always be there if u rent out and is a great asset
Ah here as an old employer of mine an ex dairy farmer and a brilliant strawberry grower used to say- awaywithye!!!!
i like you Stan.. we go back a long way on here... but i think i might like Whelan more... sorry..
At ridiculous levels demand for land to rent mostly by dairy farmers never stronger …..straw going to be even scarcer next summer
well the video of the student in Massachusetts who thought JK Rowling was transphobic because they heard it said she was... tells you how some of our youth are being brainwashed.. thankfully the very wise teacher was able to get into the students head and got them to think for themselves rather than going by the propaganda
Enjoy ur input Stan, like to hear different angles
Ah yeah a great point
im not liked on here because im not a yes man and always have financials to back everything up that i say
A good friend always says that people believe what they want to believe and it doesn't have to be the truth. A glaring weakness in anyone.
*not a personal slight on anyone here but a fact none the less.
Set in sleeves in concrete. Yes.
No it's the way its gone and anyone who says different is shot down its a driven agenda by the powers that be and they have completely brainwashed a large section of dairy farmers
They're a happy bunch!
Have you those timber posts set in the concrete or how are they fixed?
Land still hot here in Tipp, think I'll reduce 20 cows.
Yup. Totally gone to the dogs. When you log in and there's 30 new posts you know it's bullshit
People don’t like reality
reality is that my cull cows avg more then their cows
if you can’t see the problem there I think that there is a bigger problem that people have fallen for the propaganda
Whatever
I wasn’t belittling their stock I was pointing out the difference in value between good stock and bad stock- harsh reality of using poor Irish bulls
I think fair play to them. My lad was in college with one of the sons. He has a good job, which doesnt involve slavery. No point the dad slaving away, there's more to life....also stan was on here belittling their stock not so long ago.
Ah it's a farming version of the mission.spreading the gospel like
The postings of a waffle maker are interesting, aren't they dairymann 5?
Credit to you.
