Did ever visit leitrim such a kip
East Meath- 1200 cow farm beside me also - land being offered all the time
His health figure is a strange one at 35 , topmodel on his us figures wouldn't be a Standout bull on health traits at all, have used bulls here that are lower than 35 but should be a lot higher than topmodel if figures converted correctly...
You wonder are icbf just plucking figures from a black sack
This thread used to provide some actual valuable insight, Pure muck the last few months , A shame really
fair enuf... am surprised to read that you can rent land in your area for around 200/acre... and while i appreciate that there is plenty plenty of good land in East Meath and North Dublin... you are on the meath/dublin border and i would have thought veg growers.. potato growers and dairy farmers would have meant that land would be scarce...
Tenants don’t want veg or potatoes as it destroys ground
What about clontail farm Stan, that wouldn’t be far from you
That made over 500€ an acre and had poor ph and p and k
good ground and good facilities thiugh
Never heard of that farm
What was the reason for that place being let remember seeing it being advertised and there had been an article a few years ago of two sons mad to push on numbers there??
Just read an article about that farms massive expansion to milk cross breeds and jersey cows- moving away from Holstein
are they no longer farming
From some investigating on the web they had a clearance sale last month and have a post on their instagram account saying the father hung up the apron after 40 plus years, so the sons must have got sick of it shortly after that article you read if it’s the thatsfarming one.
I walked the farm with a friend who was interested in and what he told me was the youngest son wanted to go farming but he was too young to take it on and the father wasn’t able for it anymore
it’s leased for 5 years now
The son was finished college thou
that farm is a fair distance from me- I’d be quicker getting to you gg because of the roads
Yeah when u c lads claiming the best land in country is freely available at less than 250 acre and any amount available u have to wonder is anything true on the forum or just waffle
Montbeliarde and limousin calves.
I plan on milking a thousand cows next year..
Snug as a bug in a rug.
Bought the jackets yesterday and fitted yesterday. They got used to them fairly quick.
Hopefully keep any bugs away too. As you know yourself when your guts get cold.
That farm that gg was on about for 500 an acre included the use of the sheds milking machine and all farm machinery I have just been told- everything down to the electric fencer- alls you need is cows nothing else- this will leave the option for the young sons to enter farming in their late 20s after they have sampled the road
500 for all those facilities is actually fairly cheap
Credit to you.
The postings of a waffle maker are interesting, aren't they dairymann 5?
Ah it's a farming version of the mission.spreading the gospel like
I think fair play to them. My lad was in college with one of the sons. He has a good job, which doesnt involve slavery. No point the dad slaving away, there's more to life....also stan was on here belittling their stock not so long ago.
I wasn’t belittling their stock I was pointing out the difference in value between good stock and bad stock- harsh reality of using poor Irish bulls
Whatever
People don’t like reality
reality is that my cull cows avg more then their cows
if you can’t see the problem there I think that there is a bigger problem that people have fallen for the propaganda
Yup. Totally gone to the dogs. When you log in and there's 30 new posts you know it's bullshit
Land still hot here in Tipp, think I'll reduce 20 cows.
They're a happy bunch!
Have you those timber posts set in the concrete or how are they fixed?
No it's the way its gone and anyone who says different is shot down its a driven agenda by the powers that be and they have completely brainwashed a large section of dairy farmers
Set in sleeves in concrete. Yes.
