You need to build a bridge .
Well obviously some jobs won't exist if some parts of the shop are closing and I'm sure staff would have been informed before the big signs went up in the windows.
You need to see Roger Harty across from Dom O Donnells, if you can’t see him then you need to see him 😂
We know barely anything, and some employers are a bit sneaky when it comes to telling their employees what's what. We don't know what the sign says and we don't know when the sign was put in the window. There would still be panic for those who don't know what the truth of the matter is.
There is never anyone upstairs in that shop, I mean staff, you have to take anything you want to buy downstairs to bottom floor till so if it's closing up there it will be minimal effect on staff I would image. I know they have to stock it etc but I don't think much has been happening up there for a long time, you'd be surprised what you'd pick up there though!
Hopefully it's just BrandMax. That was kind of a hidden away shop upstairs. I brought my mother and aunt there before Christmas to get some bedlinen. They never knew it existed and assumed all that stuff was no longer sold since Heatons left years ago. I wonder were a lot more potential Brandmax customers simply not aware of its existence or type of products it sold? I'd never see ads for it in local media.
Anyone hear about a crash on John Joe Sheehy road this evening? just saw it online that the whole road was closed off, a bus and car crashed near bus station...hopefully all ok
Serious crash in Kerry, road closed (msn.com)
My understanding is that space is being cleared on the top floor for Game, which was bought out of liquidation by Frasers Group (aka Sports Direct) a few years ago.
In fairness, I dont think you could blame anybody for thinking that Sports Direct is closing down, particularly if just driving past.
Feburary always a slow month so the manager gets a brainwave to get people in the door ,it when a place is rummered to close down people will support it ,master plan really!!
It's been know for weeks. It's just they put up a sign now.
Thanks for that. Was starting to second guess myself. Interesting how all the zealots have gone quiet 🤐
Apparently there are some young kids throwing items at cars around the town. Someone I know said they were driving in early hours of Saturday morning and their car was hit with an item in town. There's now a video circulating of kids, no more than 12/13 yrs old, throwing items down at entrance to the greenway by Sean Mhuileann/Train station, in broad daylight. They are very easily identified, so probably will be easy enough to find them! You can hear people shouting at them and they literally are laughing and still throwing things. There's been reports of it happening out the Castleisland road too. Keep an eye out, but report to Gardai. They are so young its scary!
That is Lloyds UK a different company. Lloyds Ireland are owned by owners of United Drug the main distributors of drugs in Ireland. They have use of the Lloyds name but are supposed to be getting rid of it and replacing it with McCabes Pharmacy name which they bought out last year (depending on regulatory body)
Interesting, thanks. It looks like there are a lot of McCabes and Lloyds in the Dublin area, which probably means that some Lloyds ones will be surplus to requirements.
Where could I purchase a radiator cover, new or second hand ?
Woodies do them anyway, Thursday is 10% off day for over 60s if relevant 😊
The Range do them
Noticed when I was in the small Tesco in town recently that they've only gone and expanded it back to its full size again, a mere few years after they went to the hassle and expense of shrinking it. Go figure!
They were meant to be putting in a Post Office down the back, it looked like it was being built in there a while back!?
Yeah, obviously that came to nought in the end. Glad they've reverted back to full-size. They had made the isles very narrow.
Tesco has been in Abbey court a long long time now. With Quinnsworth before it! How long are tescos there? Must be over 30 years?
It being a Tesco Express they get to charge more for the goods, and some people don't realise it if the Express is the only Tesco they use. 😕
There is signage up for a new Cafe where Subway was in Oakpark.
that was quick! I noticed that Ger Carmody estate agent had a post up on his Facebook last week with a few units he has let recently and that was mentioned. Also Gamestop is let, as well a unit next to it and a unit in abbey court!
Facebook
Great to see units occupied again! That cafe in Oakpark could be a goldmine if it has the right type of product and decent coffee with a large MTU, KTP and a large Oakpark population catchment area as its potential customer base.
Is it a "Costabucks" or a one off place? 😛
One off place, name starts with Oak (which makes sense!) and there was I think mention of a Deli also, only caught a glimpse as we drove past!
I wonder is it Terrys expanding, would make a lot of business sense. Their Deli probably doesn’t do as well as it should so a separate Cafe next door would work better.
The sign says Oakhouse.
It would be a great idea if Terry's expanded into a cafe and did the deli separately! It would make sense, especially as it is occupied so quickly!
