Twitter seems to be having a bit of a meltdown about this today with all sorts of crazy rumours going around.

What’s this?
So the interview has just DROPPED.
Tucker Carlson on X: "Ep. 73 The Vladimir Putin Interview https://t.co/67YuZRkfLL" / X (twitter.com)
It's a massive 2 hours. Haven't watched it yet but an initial thought - unfortunately for getting Russia's point of view across Putin starts off admonishing Carlson's hysterical talk about world war 3 and goes into a discussion for around the first half an hour giving a historical account of the situation.
While this is wonderful for intelligent people I bet 97%+ of the people clicking on it are going to fall off watching within the first five minutes (both left and right) - keeping in mind retention rates for videos drops rapidly for nearly every video this one is going to collapse.
"what? i don't want to hear about boring history and ****, I got enough of that in school, I want to hear about world war 3 and nukes and owning teh libzzz!!!" (and the leftist equivalent).
It's a real Pinky and the Brain sort of situation.
But hopefully they will watch parts and Putin will get through to many.
This
And I'm sure dear old Adolf had some deep thoughts on history too, that he'd have been more than happy to share with muppets like Lord Haw-Haw if they'd had colour TV back then. This sounds like basically a 21st century equivalent of that.
Yes, the really intelligent people listen to Putin drone on ad infinitum.
Modern day KGB assist interviews the head of the KGB.
I suppose it could have been worse, Joe Rogan could have interviewed him.
Whats the smallest organ in tuckers body ? Putins mickey
"I'm here with the President of Russia Sisi"
"could someone show me where the toilet is again please? maybe that nice young girl could come back again and show me"
I like how Putin was so cool and self-assured when he answered Carlson's "when did you last speak with president biden" with "I don't remember" - just straight out. Smooth, frank, honest and most of all zero fear. Meanwhile if you asked a politician in the west something like that that they didn't remember that might sound important they'd fluff and flap about. Tucker laughs and yet Putin is so self-assured that this was not such an important thing to remember, it was not an important event to him, it was before the war, perhaps a perfunctory exchange or telephone call like many others every day - remember all the western reports that Putin had dementia, yet so sublimely confident that this was not an important thing.
He’s such a dreamboat. Wonder has he any new chefs?
I'm going to take anyone serious who comes out with that kind of nonsense. You are talking about KGB colonel and his lackey, wake up for heavens sake. Where in their history of deception is there anything that leads you to believe you should take them seriously and advance such a position in a adult conversation????????
Predictably enough, it has acted as a propaganda puff piece. Carlson showing himself to have absolutely no moral compass.
lots of tankies here who long for the days of having a strong man like Putin in charge, shítting in outhouses, alcoholism, mass unemployment and dying young for mother russia.
Some people need a bad dose of reality.
Same people pining for another world war or more and more conflict. It's only a matter of time before it moves from the screens of their phones and into real life.
Going by the various comments online in relation to the interview so far, it appears that his former producer and lawyers were right on the money.
Not sure if because the Twitter algorithm is broken but pretty much every account with any interest in the interview seems to be conspiracy theory accounts. Eg illuminatibot 😂
Exactly as predicted, complete rubbish . Not an interview, just an opportunity for Putin to appoint his nonsense unchallenged for 2 hours.
I'd put money on them concluding that Putin's arguments sound valid. They already said the quality of the interview effectively doesn't matter.
You Failed to get into the CIA great put down from oul vlad
I'll leave watching the whole thing to the poor journalists who at least get paid for that. Highlights in the usual media outlets: Grauniad, Daily Fail, etc. At one point Putin's leg starts shaking badly, he blames Poland for starting WW2, and blames Boris Johnson for advising Ukraine to not surrender. The Guardian:
Putin spent more than 30 minutes giving a history of Russia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine, in a monologue that took viewers from the ninth century rule of Oleg the Wise, to the struggles of the 1300s, through to a critique of Lenin’s foreign policy.
When a baffled-looking Carlson finally coaxed Putin into the 21st century, the Russian president accused the US and other western countries of prolonging the war in Ukraine.
On one level, the interview was a bad idea and serves as self-promotion for Carlson as well as allowing Putin to spout his propaganda. On the other hand, the interview will be scrutinised at multiple levels, for clues about everything from military strategy to Putin's health.
Is any war other than WWII actually on the curriculum now?
His tea was well safe as long as he stuck to the pre agreed questions and gave Putin the agreed time for his scripted answers.
Seems to have somehow gone worse than everyone imagined it could with tucker sitting and listening to monologues by a crazy person.
@animalinside not sure how you recover from this one 🤣
Of course, I'm shocked that anyone could have ever expected anything different.
Even the likes of Bertie in his day would only accept pre agreed questions followed by scripted answers.
It's what all intelligent politicians with even the smallest amount of 'baggage' does.
This is not true at all and there's lots of evidence of him being challenged and unscripted interviews. Ireland has a free press and politicians cannot control interviews like that. Also this Tucker guy is not really a journalist but a guy with an agenda.
