Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

But do they share a canteen?
Times Radio is owned by the same company and based in the same building
This man will spend his life trying to convince himself that he choose to leave a cushy number in rte. That he choose to go to London and that he actually was handpicked for the position he has at present.
Delusional. Definitely.
Arrogant. Certainly.
Talented. Not.
The Times Radio at best has about the same audience size as a local radio station in Ireland. The Green Scene on LMFM would probably have more listeners. Its not on FM and was only established to increase subscriptions for The Times online. It is regarded as a chip on the shoulder of News UK and it is where they send the weird people. It is NOT BBC Radio 4 or LBC and no one really takes it seriously.
You may need to take a reality check Gregor! It is quite likely that Kait Borsay's producer was stuck to fill in time on a slow news day and met Tubridy in the canteen and asked him to do a favour. There is no rocket science here.
Actually, he is an utter disgrace and a full imposter of a human.
moderator: alzer100 was warned for this. the last line is over the top.
Tubridy was “the big interview” (presenter Kait Borsay’s words, not mine, I hasten to add!) on Times Radio (that’s The Times in London, not the one over here). A frank insight into what certainly seems to be his successful move to the UK, perhaps against the odds, some would say.
Catchup is here
or the RTE “Cliffs Notes” (so to speak) here for an overview.
Interesting to see him being noticed by the established UK media only a month into the Virgin gig on national UK radio.
If I was born with his level of ability and talent then I would make sure I was born in to a wealthy and well connected family so I could get a job on the gravy train.
At his age, he won't have many options. If he's had sense he'd have invested well and have businesses in PR and media consulting that trade off his name but it doesn't appear that he does. Rather than manage that himself, he seemed utterly reliant on NK.
So if the money from the good times is gone, then it's broadcasting he's left with. The problem for him though is that his skill is at local radio level and his range is very narrow.
Where Tubridy is genuinely skilled was how he masterfully worked the uniquely dysfunctional politics in RTE to get him up the greasy pole. Not exactly a transferable skill.
A place where even Mickey wears a Ryan Tubridy watch🙂
Why not a Librarian? Only the money isn’t great.
I think Tubs was always willing to have Vogue on his shows whenever she wanted. The LLS to plug anything she likes. Or the radio.
I think she has been on his old morning radio slot a few times complaining what the papers had written and body shaming her. Not many people have that privilege. Tubs would let her have a rant and butt in every so often helping to criticise the mean nasty rude crude hurtful journalists.
Makes me laugh but he now writes for that type of paper.

If you cliick on the # and number on your post, you can edit it. Though sending Tubridy to Liberia would be a much better option for him careerwise. :)

Librarian.
A Liberian or an Undertaker.
The host of a reboot of Going for Gold.
Or perhaps the host of “Skirmish”. A military based quiz show on uk cable channel Conquest.
Having lost RTE protection, he's basically inept. By inept I mean in comparison to people that currently enjoy an income anywhere near what RTE were even paying him recently.
I see some older articles about Vogue Williams (can't personally stand that type of act but she's got her audience) and she seems to live in London and was previously a guest of Tubs on the LLS. He's been in her house for tea etc too.
Perhaps she's returning a favour, or giving him 10/% for playing the fool (will come naturally).
Her 'star', and I use that lightly, is on the up, and fair play to her if people (women like Tubs fans) are prepared to pay for that mediocrity. Tubs is on the downward spiral and it's interesting to see how she's planning to share the limelight.
A Father Trendy kind of parish priest or a school teacher.
He has a clerical look to him...
Disney actually has a very specific way to point, and they're very strict about it.
https://www.travelandleisure.com/trip-ideas/disney-vacations/disney-employees-banned-from-pointing-with-index-finger
I see him as a bank clerk, maybe working his way up to manager. Or a civil servant in the Registry of Deeds. I have this vision of him rubber-stamping documents.
It's been done, The Sound of No Hands Clapping by Toby Young. A good read, he wrote it himself.
If he got proper writers and sold a self deprecating comedy documentary movie about BOUNCING BACK. It would be huge
An actor.
He could get typecast though.
Scrooge. Pinocchio. Walter Mitty.
Milky Bar Kid.
You know in Disney World?
and they have guys and gals dressed up as famous furry Disney characters from over the years…
yeah, that’s what he could do…
he’d get to do some more pointing too… it’s a classic gig for a pointer.
Okay, since everyone is gung ho criticising Tubridy, let's say you were a Careers coach, what do you think he might be good at?
We now know that Radio 1 has a lot of listeners who really don't move the dial. Also, if you listen on a physical radio in some regions outside of Dublin the choice of stations is pretty poor. So in some ways Tubridy was broadcasting to a guaranteed or a captive audience.
It's very different to the markets in Dublin and in the UK where there is more choice. I think we're going to be finding out this year just how popular RTE'S golden boy actually is.
Poor figures of 5% in Dublin for Q102, a radio station once holding a 12-14% market share. The Tubridy effect may see this JNLR number dwindle further back to a crisis 3% year on year, particularly if News UK continue to shoehorn this RTE has-been into a midday music slot.
I knew you were joking 😁 👍
Ever hear about the chap crying to a vaudeville performer about how he lost his family in a car crash and how utterly devastated he is and the vaudeville act said he knew exactly how he feels as he once lost his suitcase 😀
I don’t think the bbc would sell him a slot though
