Ukraine have regained ground in Bakhmut direction, the frontline has not changed materially in months there. Literally just fields being taken and then retaken by other side.
Only concerning development is Avdiivka because it is one of the most heavily fortified points on both the original and current frontline. Avdiivka is a maze of tunnels and bunkers designed to withstand constant bombardment. But they wisely do not want a repeat of Azovstal and so have decided to retreat now that northern supply route to Avdiivka has been cut by RU.
It's coming into range of Russian guns and glide bombs expect to hear about it over the next 14 days or so

I like the sound of being comparable to Somoa, Tonga, Fiji, Vatican, Lichtenstein, Andorra, Monaco etc. These countries and many other small nations like them investing heavily in defence is a waste of money.

Ukraine doesn't get the cash. It doesn't even get goods or services anywhere near the sums being quoted.
Say a country donates 100m in artillery to Ukraine. That equipment is invariably old and still serviceable but its worth nowhere near 100m; it's what the donor country would have to spend to replace it with new stock.
In this case it's new Artillery shells which gets produced in 2024
