Sometimes you just need an obvious Tankie to out themselves and spare us all the continuing facade; it's not like Carlon's rhetoric on the Ukraine war wasn't already plainly pro-Russian and even in this sickening introduction / justification, he hints that the interview is gonna be setting up a platform into America for Putin to talk up the invasion as just, needed or both. The concern trolling would make you vomit.
If there's any karma then Carlson's career will burn for this, maybe even in his own circles and echo chambers too; the American Right can't be that embedded with Russian interest that it will row behind Carlson for this decision. Remember those innocent days when Jon Stewart single-handedly got a Carlson show cancelled through Stewart's own wit? Maybe this can happen again.
I'm still in knots at the "no American journalists even try to report what's happening in Russia"... he's obviously not a fan of Evan Gershkovich or Alsu Kurmasheva. Both of which Russia said they would trade for jailed FSB agents...
But yes, freedom of speech is well and truely dead :-D
The bit at the end, the "watch this, make your mind up yourself" the conspiracy theorists are gonna cream themselves to that, it's like a beckoning call...
What happens if you watch it and still think Putin is a c*nt? Does that make you a sheep? I'm sure that assertion is against free speech too, but hay ho, you are a sheep if you follow the wrong flock.
Now the children sing songs in Putin's russia of making Bombs from dough as a sing and march along to.

Russian's were after the same Tora Bora goat hearders at one point, or is that point conveniently forgotten about?
Problem is that they are all but useless in a modern operation. You will recall that when the Ukraine invasion kicked off, it was all "Bayraktar this", "Bayraktar that", but after a month.... nothing.
The reason is simple. Russian air defense actually became vaguely competent after a few weeks, and they were basically lost quickly. Moderately large drones just aren't suited for any job where there is some form of protection against manned aircraft, and are additionally vulnerable to electronic attack even if the hard-kill systems aren't there. At least manned aircraft don't need to worry about the EW problems.
you haven't heard of Mick Wallace and Claire Daly then, have you?
It may be worth comparing with the Norwegian defense policy, a similarly-populated nation also with a large amount of water in its purview. In last year's "Advice of the Chief of Defense" (A periodic requirement that the military has to produce), it, too, observed that the nation had no chance of defending itself against an aggressor. Just too much water, coastline and land for the amount of people and armed forces it could realistically provide.
The stated goal of the Norwegian defense forces, thus, was something even Ireland would be capable of doing, if it wanted to: Hinder any likely opponent from conducting any likely operations for long enough for allies to show up. Which I think is reasonable.
Imagine if he was the opening round of new diplomatic relations
What a **** moron. The hypocrisy of this man to talk about freedom of speech and traffic conspiracy theories about Biden when he is interviewing putin, a man who routinely has political rivals and journalist murdered or jailed. To act as a propaganda tool for a genocidal regime is disgusting.
Avdeyevka is the Russian spelling.....
Yours is something not english or Russian
Why getting so worked up on this topic?
I mean Ireland is a democracy. It is not only one person that will decide what Ireland will do.
Also, because Ireland was not targeted in the past, doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the future. In any case, better be safe (prepared) than sorry.
Says the man who can’t spell “MISSILE”.
Avdiivka
Actually, who was the huge threat to Ireland during the rise of fascism in the tender years after Independence? As Bennito and Adolf and Franco and Salazar were getting ready to wreck the continent?
when that was all over and Europe was a graveyard, when was Ireland under threat?
From the inception of NATO, when has Ireland been threatened with any kind of military invasion or occupation?
And you have people saying “we must join NATO BECAUSE WE COULD BE ATTACKED”
Please!
Getting back to Avdivika. I don’t see anything bright for it.
Avoid the windows..
Russian hate is being promoted by Russia and in particular Putin. Russian actions have led to millions of Ukrainian refugees having to leave their own homes and take ones all over Ireland and the EU. Thanks Russia!
Hope he doesn’t get stuck there.

Ah here,
Would you prefer to live in russia?
Russia hate is promoted by careerist politicians who want to get a big job in Europe by sucking up to other nations geopolitical interests instead of serving the Irish people. Come back to me when Russian vulture funds start buying up all the family homes.

100 years of independence and who has attempted to invade Ireland? Yet we must join NATO or buy tanks or some rubbish. Ireland is “freeloading” off the backs of morons who claim that goatherds in Tora Bora are about to take over the world and STILL can’t defeat them.
don't underestimate angry fishermen too
I don't believe we should join NATO. We need some western countries not on it. Not really related to Russia but in some situations countries may not be willing to deal with NATO but would accept what they see as a more neutral peacemaker. Being in NATO Ireland becomes an insignificant member of a large group, staying out allows us to influence things more imo.
We do seriously need to upgrade and resource our military more, neutral should not mean weak or incapable of defending ourselves at even a basic level.
Russian hackers “hacked” our HSE, did they? And if the security of the HSE networks was breached, how do you know it was Russians? In fact if you are so adept at detecting the nationality of data intruders (and that they are given “free reign”) then surely you might be better at closing vulnerabilities. Universities all over the world are the easiest to break into. They are just dump sites for students to upload coursework.
So tell again how Russian hackers broke into the HSE? How do you know it was Russians?
Ever hear of IP spoofing?
NATO was built for the Cold War, its being left behind.
It was said if Russia attacked Germany, the Germans had enough artillery shells for a couple of weeks (most NATO countries were the same). They have something like 300 tanks.
Regards Ireland, Ukraine has shown you don't actually need a navy to deter major powers. If Ireland had 100 of those unmanned speedboats the Ukrainians built they could deter most navies.
Luckily we are physically on the periphery of Europe. Our main threat is in cyberspace.
...
I agree. Plus lets face it we are not neutral. We believe in living in a free open and democratic society and oppose authoritarian dictatorships and as such we should play our part in the defense of free open democratic societies.
I agree. Whether we do or do not join NATO is a separate issue IMHO. But we need to develop a fit for purpose defense force and stop being spongers. We are part of a collective in the EU that brings us great benefits as a country we have a duty and an obligation to do our bit when it comes to defense.
NATO membership is on another thread and is a topic we need to have a serious conversation about. But for me IMHO we first need to actually develop a defense force that is fit for purpose as we do not have one currently.
