I have no problem with him interviewing Putin. The ones against him doing it are usually the journos that play the game of softballs for the guy you like, gotcha for the guy you don't.
However, he must ask him extensively about the Irpin war crimes and the Mariupol theater. He must be asked about the failure of the invasion and the 40km convoy outside Kyiv. He has to be asked about digging trenches in Chernobyl. He has to be asked about the waves and waves of men being sent to slaughter for a field and then losing it again. Why the Chechens seemed to be getting preferential treatment, and just shooting TikTok videos as opposed to fighting. He has to be asked about the scores of videos of Russian soldiers commiting suicide or being abandoned by their fellow soldiers. There's so many more go into.
If he doesn't as these questions then he's shown himself up as a failure.
I wonder will our media pull a Section 31 on Tuckers possible interview with Putin?
You all remember Section 31 right? Hearing from Sinn Fein was outlawed in our bastion of journalist freedom. A work around was implemented whereby they would provide a voice-over of Gerry Adam's actual voice.
I mean they do that already with Putin, since he doesn't speak English. Though you should notice that the western media always use a higher pitched and grating sort of voice for him. Not really so subtle a manipulation of public sentiment.

I can access Tass and Russia Today (from the west of Ireland, on a domestic Vodafone connection) no problem. This is even on my work computer (US company), which has access restrictions.

Putin has literally had politicians and journalists killed. Russia ranks at 164th out of 180 for press freedom. Tucker getting an interview with him is more a sign that he'll do a whitewash of him and be sympathetic towards the invasion. It has more to do with engaging in global propaganda than a transparent Russia.
It's realistically not going to be a hard hitting interview. Tucker isn't David Frost, he pushes a particular line and has been on Ukraine since the war began.
The conspiracy theorists will lap it up I'm sure. Doesn't mean that it's gonna be particularly informative.

Agreed 100%. Fantastic country and people too, but completely under the control of a criminal. To survive in Putin's Russia, you have to be a criminal.
Quite the difference
Lets be honest though, people with your mindset, will not budge no matter what. Putin could say many verifiable things, yet all of them would be lies to you. Everything is a lie when it comes from "bad people", everything should be believed when it comes from "good people". For adults we are often so childish, looking at things with such simplicity, black and white and nothing else. Pure good vs evil battles rarely exist as they as presented, there's often the grey, but it doesn't suit people who push this stuff to have the world view it like that. The "Western heroes" fighting the savages is a narrative that funnily enough "progressive" types should be aware of, as it was often the justification for the imperialism that they claim to hate. Yet still they accept such narratives with ease when it suits them.
None of that is to say that Putin is innocent or righteous, but more so that the other side get their hands dirty too, yet their acts are often ignored because they are fighting "evil".
