Twitter seems to be having a bit of a meltdown about this today with all sorts of crazy rumours going around.

...sounds about right, arsehole visits country run by another arsehole.....
I mean in the movies the balcony at the opera house is where baddies do their parlay
Open secret at this point that there’s right wing extremists like Tucker and even GOP lawmakers who are either up Russias butt or they’re up there’s either way they’re in cahoots together. Exhibit A
Exhibit B
Exhibit C
Exhibit D
Robert Reich piece on this overlap last year:
Well worth putting on the "things to do in your lifetime " list Wanderer if you get the chance.
oh im sure russia is an incredible country, filled with great people, pitted about the arseholes there though, especially.....
Atm, it would akin to attending events in Nazi Germany during the war. So it's fair that it's raised eyebrows.
everybody who doesnt agree with you is compromised.
suppose its slightly more mature than the "he is literally hitler" argument of a few years ago...progress of sorts.
Thread title leads to disappointment.
Was expecting a story about, and photo of, Tucker giving it loads in a tutu
American putinbot visits Moscow.....
Anti Americans are aroused 🤣
Tucker in Moscow is less surprising to me than Tucker at a ballet.
Bill Kristol, former chief of staff to the vice president of the United States during the Reagan administration, suggested a temporary ban on Carslon being allowed back into the US.
Sounds a bit harsh for someone popping off to watch the ballet doesn't it ?
Well....close enough..
How dare you question Bill of the WMDs!
remember the ol days when a free press was seen as a good thing lol
Aye, the good old days.
Agree. I went to the Bolshoi many times when I lived in Moscow - a wonderful experience every time. And that's coming from someone who grew up in Coolock and never thought I'd see a ballet let alone enjoy one. Tucker Carson is a **** arsehole though as is his hero Putin.
Don't be ridiculous. Extremely low to stoop to use the deaths of 6 million innocent people to try to further your own point of view. Even Israel doesn't do that with the current Gaza conflict.
Call me when Russia stops abiding by international rules of conflict and starts rounding up civilians and gassing them.
Putin driving Tucker around would be quite a thing
It's called hedging your bets folks, Trump needs info from Red Square who better than his incoming minister for propaganda and disinformation to retrieve it.
Not low at all. They're not remotely at the same level but they've been intentionally killing off civilian population since day one. So they've had more than one accusation of genocide. Plus there's the kidnapping of children to Russia which has resulted in the international criminal court issuing a warrant for Putin's arrest. Russification of the Ukrainian population was one of the key goals of the invasion which in itself is the part of the aim of genocide. So war crimes, genocidal acts. Ya, I have no issue with bringing genocide into this.
So yep, I'd have pretty big questions about anyone wishing to associate with such a state.
Also just an fyi, the scale of the genocide committed by the Nazis didn't become apparent until after the war.
Going to see the ballet in Russia has feck all to do with press freedom.
But maybe troll freedom.
Disappointed ... thought that Tucker Carlson had snapped out of his 'make the Handmaid's Tale real' phase and became a ballet dancer .... sadly no .... he remains indoctrinated by the Gilead cult .... the pandemic that infected him nearly 20 years ago which he has never recovered from .... sadly he and all of [small]Pox News are still infected by this evil virus ....
I read that he's there to land an interview with Putin. Would be amazing if it pans out.
thats a very reductive and literal view of the situation lol ,
Surely when he lands back in the US, they will hold him and question him...no?
So what is the expansive and metaphorical view of the situation?🤯
Leaving aside the fact that "metaphorical" makes no sense here, is it not obvious? the other poster's comment only makes sense if Tucker was indeed in Moscow for a day trip to take in the Ballet, there, freedom of the Press would not be appropriate, but the fact that some loudmouths in the US want him arrested, not let back in to the US and are calling him a traitor is because the most interesting scenario is that he has snagged a Putin interview., in which case freedom of the press is something to hark back to.
No one "snags" a Putin interview. He just uses willing dupes to spread his propaganda.
Obviously Carlson is completely incapable of any useful journalism himself, but on this occasion that doesn't really matter.
You won't be watching the interview so?
unless you are under the delusion that we in the West only get facts and unfiltered 2nd hand opinions about Putin , I think a lot of people will be happy enough to listen to some Putin (propaganda) and see how it stacks up to the West propaganda.
As an aside, assuming nothing devious, Carlson's hotel room undoubtedly will have had several cameras in it in case compromat is required.
