One of the most inexperienced squads in 6n history vs Gregor's perennial underachievers.
Could be decent game, going for a Scotland win by 10+
No. Wales will take a massive boost from that second half, as well as two bonus points. You could hear it from the crowd at the end, the players will take that into the next game I'm sure.
Quality opening round of fixtures
Yet the losing team did get the BP. You are right, Scotland really blew that.
DISCIPLINE. And the Scots can have no quibble, the Ref warned them.
Only game I really fear now after watching the 3 tests is Twickenham. There will need to be a strong ref there.
Scotland should be worried about that comeback mostly because of how bad their discipline was. They conceded 14 penalties in a row to a Wales attack which wasn't that sophisticated. It was was scrappy and off the cuff without much in the way of decoys or subtlety. To be beaten back that much is a massive issue.
High entertainment, mixed quality.
With the exception of Ireland. Unreal performance from 1 to 80.
It wasn't a try, there is no doubt about it.
I'll be very disappointed if we don't win the GS. Sure things can change but we look miles better than any of the teams we've yet to play.
Yeah, one weekend in and we are in an absolutely different league. But plenty of rugby yet to be played.
Erm, think you were a little bit early with that lol
Yup. It's one of those instances where the law is an ass. If they hadn't grounded the ball, the ref had indicated penalty advantage and they'd have surely got a PT. But because the try was actually scored, the ref doesn't award the PT and they get the benefit of....having to kick the points for the full 7. It sucks. Annoyed me no end when BOK carded the player but didn't award the PT, but, I'm not sure he's actually allowed to within the laws. Can anyone clarify?
We can't know that as Scotland had a penalty called by the referee in last play of game which might have been awarded after the try wasn't given.
Very hard to work out Scotland. First half they were immense, albeit against a very weak Wales, but the 2 YC’s really punished them.
He'd called advantage over when they made a line break and got to into the 22.
Can’t agree here. The leg prevented the grounding.
"A penalty try is awarded between the goal posts if foul play by the opposing team prevents a probable try from being scored, or scored in a more advantageous position. A player guilty of this must be cautioned and temporarily suspended or sent off. No conversion is attempted."

Yeah, that's what I thought...it's a bit sh*tty, in that that the same illegal action by the defending side could result in the ball being an inch short, and you get a penalty try. 1 inch further, ground the ball on the line and the penalty try award goes out the window, you don't get the full 7 points. Should be able to call it penalty try offense regardless of attacking side managing to get it down, and give them full 7 imo.
It's a funny one. There has to be an element of not wanting to take the try off the player who scored in that scenario.
Could they introduce a thing where, in the case that the ref was going to give a PT had a try no been scored, they automatically get the 2 points for the conversion? The try stands for the scorer, they could even let the kicker attempt the conversion, if he ges it the points count for him. If not the team still get the 2 but they don't count for the kicker.
Like, just give them the two points and move on with the game, imo.
Could do that, just thought it would be preferable to keep the authentic try experience with the conversion attempt.
24-31. Oh ya!
We need to win another GS while we are on top.
I thought that pass to VdM for his first try was fairly flat. Forward?
Lads Scotland are a shambles. We will destroy them if they play like that again.
Who got man of the match, or did they do one for each half?
Wales were dire in the first half and Wales were Dyer in the second half.
(I'll get my coat)
The PT is awarded directly under the posts where there is almost zero challenge in kicking the conversion. That's the only fair place to award the PT so we should just get on with the game without wasting time.
