How are they still getting away with this for so long in this day and age, its pure gambling. They must be making a fortune from this as its going nearly a year. Its putting me off the GoLoud stations with he constant plugging of it.

Actually bank holiday weekends are their biggest draws (on the Friday).
I only enter it on weeks when there's a "guaranteed winner this Friday" which they start promoting on the Monday. The reason being, I can't be entering the daily draw- if I entered it on Monday, it wasnt won until Thursday and they ring me Thursday, sure I could be occupied and unable to answer the phone that day.
And I'd quite honestly shoot myself if I missed the call.
I honestly can't enter it any more though- I just can't abide by another Friday of being beside the radio (or pulled over in the car) 40 minutes of listening to that flute Foley and his mate with their inane back and forth natter on the Friday. Nobody cares for your comedy or the terrible music you play, get on with the **** call and leave us be.
A particularly unfunny segment is "DJ Jayo"- a bit impersonating your average DJ on Dublin's pirate dance stations. Not only is it unfunny but it depressingly reminds you that prior to Covid there was always at least two or three pirate dance stations on the go playing a much needed alternative to your diet of the same Ariana Grande song 3 times an hour on the legal stations.
I think they died because post Covid the club scene is even more on its arse than it had been so there's sod all events for promotors to pay the pirate owners to advertise to keep the lights on.
In relation to your point about Today FM (DJ Jayo and Ray Foley), you could always listen to one of the other Bauer Media stations around that time for the Cash Machine.
I dunno, on a normal day the other stations replay the live call a few minutes after it actually happened on Today FM, I'd assume it's the same on the locked in giveaway days.

It's not live on any of the stations, they're all replays. They just get slotted in wherever suits the schedule that day on each.
100%. I suspect the call takes place just after 3PM when Barry Dunne links out of the news and into several songs in a row on 98FM.
Would also give them time to edit and chop it then insert it into each station's log.
They have to be able to flag/edit the calls in case any weird stuff goes on on it anyway, whether it's glitches in the sound, mishearing, bad language etc, hence it not being live.
All the Red Fm presenters are giving the competition a lot of air time.
Its very annoying.

What about thought provoking, fun promotions that involve the listener working a little for the prize?
What about lifestyle experience prizes?
What about being able to do some promotions like live free for a year?
Revenue generators is whats at play rather than audience captivators.

I'd say since the turn of the year, I've listened to about 5hrs total between TodayFM, Newstalk and iRadio, all because of the cash machine.
Thankfully Tom Dunne, Claire Beck and Block Rockin Beats never mention it. Ray Foley the only show I listen to that does.

Was only half listening to today fm today and heard a competition for a kitchen worth 20k. Is it correct that it cost 2.50 per text to enter. Sounds like another money making scheme by Bauer.
I didn't listen to a single minute of TodayFM last week. And I used to be a regular listener of The Last Word.
The Cash Machine finally finished me off.
They do this at every bank holiday. Instead of running the cash machine, they have a once-off prize, like a holiday or a garden set or this weekend, a new kitchen.

Being off by such a tiny amount is sickening. It must be horrible to be Barry Dunne in that situation when you know how close she is.
I wonder if there’s any aftercare or follow-up needed when they get it wrong because that phone call could really break some people who are in desperate need of the cash.
