Lately it has been said that there is not enough interest in the carlow board and that some sort of live needs to be brought back into the board. This although hurtful to carlow inhabitants is a very valid point. Our forum is used enough and we really do need to bump up the number of posters on this forum and show certain other counties in the couth east that we can compete with the "BIG BOYS":D *(patrick knows what i mean by this)

So my input into the idea is to make the forum a bit "looser" and more Enjoyable. My input being this thread. Maybe we could use it to talk about anything at all, no guidelines, usual rules just post on whatever topic you want. Might be a chance for carlow people to get to know each other better outside the debates on current events with regard to the county. Maybe no-one or the mods will see this as an asset to the board but it's worth a shot. As a poster in the soccer forums they have recently started such a thread and it seems to be working a treat as distractions usually do.So use it at you're will and SULLY/DUB13 feel free to make the moderations to it as you deem fit or pm me regarding the matter. Lets see how it goes!

Edit : Please also note that there is a count on the Thread too....As in like if you agree with someone instead of having to post a big long complicate reply just say "+1" or if you disagree "-1" or "-100" dependant of what your views may be...:D

Carlow say no cancelled there protests on Dublin street because no one was showing up to support the half a dozen or so that were protesting.

Good on the people of Carlow ignoring them and showing Carlow actually say yes and welcome to refugees.

Good to hear it, the people of Carlow are better than that. Clearly immigration will continue to be a big issue in the years ahead and we need to figure out nationally how we,deal,with it in a structured. rational and fair manner, but knee jerk and misinformed reactions can lead to ugly outcomes.

Looked to me the last time I saw them they were propping the facades with steel guiders and clearing the structures behind. Probably to preserve the streetscape?

To a wider point, good to see incremental progress in addressing derelict buildings / sites about the town - the place is pockmarked with these eyesores. It may be due to the derelict site tax forcing site owners to get a move on ? It always struck me Carlow was a bit of an ‘El dorado’ during the Celtic Tiger with developers buying up sites during that period but ultimately in some cases not having the financial where with all to do anything with them….

We have a TD, radio station and hospital. We have 2 universities, a brand new secondary school and 2 others doing big expansions. We've 2 cinemas, a new Theater and Arts Centre. We have some of the best sports facilities of any town in Ireland, 2 major employers moved into the area in recent years and a brand new IDA advance factory that has already had visits from prospective users. We've a new bus service, a new e bike service and new train services been added. We're doing ok and better then a lot of places.
