I was referring to Russia. They were considered a world power 2 years ago and I don't think many would have expected to Ukraine to last this long. Certainly I expected it to be over in a few weeks (and a lot of credit goes to he Ukrainians for this as well).
Certainly weaker than China but was still considered one of the 3 big powers and China has been having its own economic issues.

Militarily and economically Russia might be on the wane, if not outright moribund, but their footprint on social media and fake news can be seen everywhere in society - and continues to have a deleterious effect.
Let's not forget until recently & Finland closed its borders to Russia, Moscow was shipping migrants to the EU border and sending them over on biycycles - all as means to destabilise our bloc; and it has been working, if we witness the obviously manipulated anti-immigrant rhetoric that has seen the rise of (not-at-all-coincidently Russia friendly) populist leaders.

I expected the war to be over in a few days, like yourself. I underestimated the resilience of Ukraine, the steadfast support shown to them by the US and the EU, and the weakness of the Russian army. I only expected it to be over so quickly because Ukraine has zero natural defences and a quarter of Russia's population.
Russia isn't a world power and hasn't been since the Soviet Union and even then, a lot of that was Western anxiety (and said nuclear weapons).

Most of his fund raising has been going on his legal fees for the last year or more and his fund raising in general has been far weaker than previous cycles.
He simply doesn't have the money to fund a full blown primary campaign and a General Election campaign AND his ever increasing legal costs.

He is literally in court having already been found guilty of sexual assault, and yet all some lads are concerned about is that Biden is too old.
If Biden was in court today for sexual assault the Fox news crowd would be calling for nuclear strikes on Washington, but they have no problem with their man being a rapist.
The cognitive dissonance from these people is staggering. Biden will stumble on stairs at some stage and they will go for blood, all the while ignoring the fact that Trump fell down the stairs 152 times in the previous week.
Courts have determined that he is a Criminal Fraud and liable for Sexual assault and a Judge has confirmed that it is reasonable to refer to his actions as rape.
That's who it would appear a significant majority of Republicans in the US want to have as their President.
A Rapist and a Fraud is their "leader" - These people are so far away from the moral high-ground that if I was standing at the bottom of the Marianas trench I'd still be looking down on them.

What would happen to the Republican party if Trump just had enough, just gave up and in typical Trump fashion decide to burn all bridges and tell the republican party and his supporters that they're nothing but a bunch of degenerate morons and he's sick of the lot of them and he hopes they fall into nothingness and waste away as a stain on the planet, and then just wakes away for good.
Imagine, that many people effectively being told by their prophet that they're useless and nothing. I'd have to imagine they'd destroy themselves, massive numbers of suicides, mass-shootings, democrats or government employees targeted for assassination. Probably reams of "Depp State Operation" talk.
Cults always fascinate me in as to how utterly deluded the followers are, I always wondered what it would be like if the cult leader essentially just said "go fu€k yourselves". The anger and emotional scarring would be over-whelming. And you'd imagine in a cult like MAGA, which isn't the brightest or most peaceful oriented, it would surely see a wave of destruction.

Hell Trump may have singlehandedly forced the GOP to agree to a deal now before the election. Anything less will be seen now as the GOP putting the party over the country. And they can't win without independents. Fox News won't be able to run chyron after chyron of 'migrant caravan crisis' this summer and autumn (well they can, but it would backfire hilariously).
A 3rd party/Independent Candidate will NEVER win the Electoral college.
If Haley ran (or Trump in the reverse scenario) as an independent , all they would do is hand the a landslide victory to Biden and flip some solidly red States to blue..
