He died earlier from a heart attack, very curious guy whatever you think of him. If he didn’t kill Sophie Toscan du Plantier he certainly didn’t help himself by his attention seeking behaviour.
There's nothing in the article
Basically linking the new technology to this case
No new information
PhilMathers on Reddit has read all the books and reports.
The initial weapon was a stick/poker like object with a sharp end and possibly serrated edge.
The housekeeper said a poker was missing from the house.
I think two key questions to answer are:
1) Why did the killer walk 20 feet up the drive to the pumphouse to get the cinder block to finish her off?
2) How did he know the cinder block was loose?
I have an interesting theory but don't want to say it.
The hit man wouldn't have to be French, although could be. In France, would there be as much opportunity to target Sophie, on her own in a location with few witnesses? And perhaps a perception of a police force whose expertise \ resources was nowhere near that in France?
And the criminal angle doesn't have to mean a hit man due to her divorce, it could mean she saw something drugs related, or it could be connected to these two French citizens hiding out in West Cork. It doesn't have to mean they went there with murder in mind, perhaps just to threaten, intimidate, and things got out of control.
90 is very high. How many options would Alfie had to introduce Ian to her, given the few times in Ireland. If she purchased in 1993 till 1996 , 3 years , 3 times each year in Ireland on average..? So he had less that maybe 5 attempts . He was doing gardening in summer maybe on that occasion. 90% chance from possibly 5 times is high.
As long as you don't mention names or vaguely identify someone, you probably can say anything you want.
I'm implying the killer had knowledge of the pump house.
That rules out a lot of people i.e. Ian Bailey, hitman, randomer etc.
I have a name in mind but can't say here.
Senan Baloney ffs.
Ok. Where does this leave any of original DPP file. I only read the 44 page file. Does another file exist on these other scenarios or they are only been looked into in review?
Certainly it opens it up if people of that level are living in vicinity then knowing how profile her family were in France , she could have become target for lower french criminals or those on run.
i wonder was a spare key or something stored in the cavity hence how the killer knew of the block. they were there before ?
I don't think he is claiming otherwise. However If this method is tried and is successful then obviously new information may emerge that can put to bed the debate here. It's likely a long shot, but no more so than the cold case review establishing the truth about what happened that night in West Cork.
We haven't seen anything from the new review yet, just media commentary on it from 'sources'.
There is the original DPP report which is the one that seems to be available online, and there is the much longer original Garda File. Pieces of the original Garda File surface as it seems to have come into possession of some journalists.
Do you've a link to DPP file please?
So good you had to post it in two threads
This is assumed to be it.
https://syndicatedanarchy.wordpress.com/2014/09/30/30/
Thank you.
Windup merchant posting same on 2 threads
Claims there's no issue with the alibi
Ya probably but I think they've been reporting about this new method for a while
Papers need a story everyday re Sophie
I'm not a "windup merchant".
The alibis obviously not rock solid, but I don't see it as suspicious.
Not rock solid ? They flat out lied and changed the alibi when it was put to Jules that Bailey was seen at the bridge
What is this new theory of yours that you're cryptically posting about on both threads
What's the reason for all the suspense with it I hope you're not trolling

Pm me
It should be on the evidence.
Never heard of Phil or of a poker or stick mentioned in either of the pathology reports.
Do you know Phil or is he just some random guy on the internet that you believe anything he writes?
The 12 days of Christmas start on Christmas day
Hopefully the file is sent to dpp and he adjucates that there would have been a prosecution
Some closure for the family
Bailey is beyond suspicious with the 3 different ways he was getting scratched and the false alibi. Human nature being what is people will ignore what's staring them in the face and look for a different answer
It's clear the gardai are only looking at bailey and reinforcing the case file
Pity he's never facing court
He's legit. Look him up.
Do you've a link to any information on pathology reports?
I can't find anything except an Irish Times article from 2008 or something.
I can see it mentioned in The Guardian:
At 10 o’clock the next morning, a neighbour found Sophie’s body in the lane leading to her house. She was wearing a nightshirt, leggings, and high, brown lace-up boots, and had been bludgeoned more than a dozen times with a weapon like a poker or possibly a hatchet.
But not mentioned in this Irish Times one which goes into detail on it.

... or possibly any other blunt object.
I wouldn't take a newspaper report as being definitive.
That man was a victim himself. Noone should have to go through what he went through for that long. Even after death people are still at him. He is entitled to the same presumption of innocence as anyone else here. That French trial was a total joke too.
