This was one of the symptoms in the model 3 when my comms board went. Check and see if you have LTE/4G/3G connection when this happens. Not saying your comms board is gone, but could have been an issue with no mobile data coverage.
Funny enough if your car is offline (happens a fair bit lately) then voice commands won't work. I guess speech recognition is processed somewhere in the cloud:)
Occasionally I have the frunk unlatching when I open the app via the widget. Or I have a random warning message appearing saying that I'm about to open the frunk (not a standard tesla app functionalthoughit should be. It exists in Tessie app though. No logic or pattern behind this behaviour. Hence I removed the widget from the home screen and don't touch it if im away on holidays. Samsung Galaxy S23
Yes, our car stubbornly ignores us when we're in the North Wexford cone of silence.
I was interested in changing my 2022 eNiro for a Model Y, got a trade-in valuation of €14k 🤣.
That's less than half the valuation from other manufacturers. i know Tesla offer lower valuations but €15k less is just derisory 😀.
Tesla didn’t give you that offer, that’s the best market offer Tesla received back from the dealer network for a sight unseen purchase of your car.
I’d take it as a sign of where things are headed. Obviously you’ll always get more with a private sale, but many many people hate the idea of selling a car themselves, for whatever reason.
once you sell private once, you’ll never do it any other way.
The reason they hate the idea is that it can sometimes be a pain. Endless “best price” phone calls in broken english, No shows, delays with transferring money etc. It can be a total dose.
Bit worth it for an extra 10k in some cases. Or more in others.
Hi all,
What's the story with the rattling noises emanating from the back of the car! I have 20" wheels.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
i have no rattling noise emanating from the back of my car.
you will have to be more specific. Year, rear of car or back seats , only when driving at speed on bad roads etc
Had a rattle off the back seats in my previous car and it turns out if was the seatbelt wedged between the rear door and the seat.
there was a defect on older Telas where the hinge on the rear seta wore and made noise, but i think they were older models .
Join the club. They offered me €15k for a 2021 Audi A3 with 34k kilometres. I find it hard to believe that was the best a dealer offered them without seeing the car considering they are selling for €29k-€31k at the moment. Car dealerships are greedy but not doubling their money on a trade in greedy.
Cheapest one on DoneDeal with a dealer is €28k. €15k is low but I guess they are playing the risk that they would have to put money into it pricing it unseen.
Like always, best to sell private or at the very least contact the car buying places direct.
I had a rattle and sent it back to the service centre. Turns out it was the rear number plate holder. The rear seat belts will rattle if they're off the seats too.
If I sell my car privately and the buyer wants to drive /test it (accompanied by me) what are the insurance implications
there is no insurance unless test driver has driving other cars (and those are usually TP only so not insured if they crash your car and damage it) or you have open drive
yeah, got an offer of about 50% of car value for trade in. more options on the market now for EV's so I will likely just go elsewhere.
Tesla would be better off saying they dont accept trade ins rather than giving derisory offers
I agree, would make the process much smoother and alleviate the stress after receiving the "offer". Still, it may suit someone who cannot be arsed maximising trade in value and those folk exist.
You either need to have open driving or the potential buyer needs to be temporarily added to your policy however there is usually a charge for that. They would also be covered to legally drive your vehicle under driving of other cars extension if it applies on their own motor policy however this is third party cover only with a large majority of insurers and as such any damage caused to your vehicle by the tester would not be covered.
My insurance allows me to drive other cars fully comp. I’ve never been asked to show it on a test drive though.
Why not sell private or sell to the car buying sites direct?
Seems strange that you considered a Tesla, but because the trade offered peanuts you’d buy another car. Maximise your car sale and buy the car you actually want.
Dealers are adjusting down with the market. Maybe make €10k on your car, with the added risk of it being sight-unseen, while losing €5k on lots of cars already on the forecourt. Dealers only see the average margin of all their sales, not indiviudal cars necessarily, and right now they need to quickly push the trade-in market downwards.
I've had squeaks from the rubbers on the boot door, and some rattles from rear headrests. They were sorted by taking off the headrests, squeezing the two bars together a little, then refitting.
My list of squeaks and rattles: boot bushings (sorted in the service centre with some silicone grease or smth), right rear headrest (also sorted in service centre), rear number plate holder ( not sorted), front passenger seatbelt buckle (fixed myself by adding cable insulation tape to the car seat and the buckle), squeaky drivers seat (was sorted during the appointment but recently came back). Recently other unidentified small rattles could be heard around the interior, maybe the car is not suitable for crap cork roads;)
Do you miss your ID.3 so! 😀
Apart from rattles, MY is on another level:)
Jeepers! Some list
Im in cork also can't say ive heard any rattle, sounds strange all of these noises/sounds are in your Y.
Like anything I suppose you look hard enough you'll find stuff but you'd end up driving yourself mad.
Any listeners to the Smith & Sniff podcast this week would’ve heard Jonny Smith talking about a road trip to France in a Y and every time the car preconditioned the battery for supercharging, the whole floor pan of the car made a warping/popping noise like an oven tray might do when an oven is heating up
My 2019 Model 3 did that, also made the sound when charging on CCS whether you had preconditioned or not. Haven't charged my Y on CCS yet, I'd just assumed that's what these batteries did. Anyway I had that car 4 years with no issues and it did that from day one.
It’s not an issue. Just people that had no experience with EV’s commenting on every new sound IMO.
