he is 2 off the lead just birdied the par 5 two holes left to play
missed a 5 footer for birdie on the 17th he certainly has had the chances this evening just not happening for him
Three back going into the last round. Needs to get the putter working.
Even at that, if Scheffler has as good a day as he had today with the putter it's hard to see how he can win it. Scheffler's approach play is incredible.

Pretty sure Hovland wins a major and before McIlroy
delighted for Victor. Scottie's putting was crucial in the end, easy putts on 16 & 17 missed. That might leave a scar.
Rory didn't play well this week. Poor off the tee and wasn't on his game. He still came 4th in a high class field.
He still finds a way to grind out a result even when not playing well. He's well set going to East Lake next week. His record around there is excellent
The small field makes a big difference, but since the masters he's been in great form. Top ten every week bar the event immediately after the masters.

Some start to the year for Rory-2nd last week and winning the Dubai Desert Classic this week to go back to back in this event.
Seriously impressive stuff again, making up a 10 shot deficit over the weekend is top quality stuff.

I must say I dislike him, so I do find his major drought funny, so I was being sarcastic. I don’t wish him any ill! But I don’t like his personality from what I’ve seen anyway. I’d say he’s excited for Liv.
Ah I give credit where it’s due, I just don’t like the chap but I do understand golf is all about winning majors and he is in a serious drought for his skill level. I can only put down to a mentality deficiency when it comes to Majors.

My opinion - Rory McIlroy is the greatest sports person ever to emerge from this Island, by some distance.
And I say that as someone who does not play golf, whose main sports would be soccer, GAA, athletics.
Golf is not all about the majors. They are important no doubt; but the sport doesn't exactly shut down for the other 48 weeks of the year. To be ranked in the top 5 of his sport for as long as he has done, to be number one ranked for as long as he has done, to win as many tournaments as he has done, is an incredible achievement.
And yes I know, that you dont come on to a forum like this and start saying he's not likeable, and that you're enjoying his majors drought, unless you are hoping to get a reaction. Well and good if that's how you get your kicks.
I'm happy to give credit where its due. He is our greatest ever sports person; lets enjoy following him while he is in his prime.
There is a bit of nonchalance towards Rory in this country; I'd see it in the same way Irish people react to U2.
Yeah that’s your opinion, he is certainly up there in mine too. Yeah and Bonos rubs people up the wrong way, it is what it is. Fanboys on here though think there is no mentality issue when it comes to majors, I think there are wrong there.
I think there is a couple of majors in him this year.
less involved in the politics.. more focused ..
