Thanks, but I'd prefer the challenge cup, the chance of a run, and greater game time for our squad.
We have to keep picking up those young Leinster lads, it's working out well now.
Jon done. Bristol were a shambles. The try at the end was a joke from the officials but we at least rescued the challenge cup spot from a disappointing campaign. Its a bit disappointing we didn't put them to the sword and put a small bit more pressure on Saracens but they'll win anyway. Leaves you wondering what might have been last week but no point going over old ground.
Hopefully we get a favourable draw in the challenge cup.
I’d agree with that. This squad is good enough to win the challenge cup in my eyes, not so sure about the coaching though. Also don’t see sarries not getting enough tomorrow at home to lyon to keep us in the champions cup. I believe an away trip to Toulouse would be the prize for staying in the champions cup.
An away trip to Toulouse... a prize fit for a masochist ;)
Indeed 😂
Really like the look at Hawkshaw at 13. Farrell is obviously first choice but really need depth there.
I remember when he was on the u20's team thinking that for me he was a guy with possibly a high ceiling but he needed time and he's getting that now at Connacht
Genge trying to justify the stamp is surprisingly on brand
I think it was accidental, my take is he saw Bealham on the ground went to step over him, then planted his foot on his face, it looks like Caulfield got a bang to his face just as he planted his foot so that might have impeded his view of Bealham's head
I don't think the red was intentional but it was always gonna be a red card.
Has anyone been able to find a video of Smith's disallowed try? On the big screen I thought from one angle his foot looked in but it can be hard to tell
The concensus on twitter is that it should have stood, I mean the try not his ankle
Finally found a video but only shows the front on view. I think the side on was the one that showed his foot was in.

After looking this match, again I am very disappointed Prendergust dropping from Ireland squads. You watched his jackals, steal at line out, try saving tackle (with Smith).
Anyone able to tell me who we could get in the Challenge Cup.
Would be interested in going to an away match, but we'll probably end up playing the Cheetahs
Currently we'd be away to Clermont if Sarries win.
With bulls winning at the moment Lyon will need to win to get a home game. Home yet of getting 4th
From my rough estimates we'll probably end as 11th seed which would mean meeting the winner of Lions v Ospreys away or potentially Cheetahs or Edinburgh. That's a very rough calculation though. Lots of rugby to be played yet this weekend.
Lyon has not been shabby so far. To think that Lyon will beat Saracens heavily later is not inconceivable and as such Connacht taking the final spot for the Champions Cup is very possible.
Is the Challenge Cup a better place to be? Most likely Connacht would exit the Champions Cup at the next stage but is that a bad thing? Focus has to be on URC so Challenge Cup would only be a distraction
Indeed wouldn't be surprised if Pat Lam got his P45 after that performance by Bristol. Considering the big players Bristol has and the amount of money spent in the process, that performance has to rile the folks providing the cash
Think the red card after 13 minutes may have had a lot to do with the Bristol performance rather than Pat Lam :-)
I don't think I'd view the Challenge Cup that way at all. Priority should be winning something and I think the challenge cup is more winnable than URC (No Leinster). Champions Cup qualification through URC shouldn't be the be all and end all imo, given we're so far out of our depth this year, granted we have a chance of sneaking though via a dumb system where 16 teams make it out of a 24 team group stage
No sign of Frank Murphy reffing these games. Have folks finally copped on to him
For me is a top 8 in the URC. And what happens from there is all good
And I do think Lyon will kick Saracens arse.
get on lyon
17-5 Lyon at halftime. Could they do it? Defense from them has been fantastic and their counter isn't bad. Made a few errors in the Saracens 22 but they've been very, very good.
Hope you put your money where your mouth was here 😆 11/1!
Damn, Lyon getting our hopes up. 12 to the good at half time.
Lyon are not crap
