LAvrov's press conference is reported in to-day's Guardian. I don't have a link but this is a direct quote from the Guardian: Following on from comments about how the war in Ukraine, or “special operation” as Russia call it, had “purified” Russia, Lavrov added that it had made Russian society “healthier”.

Lavrov comes out with such nonsense though I kinda just ignore it at this stage. Though reading between the lines, if Russias politicians are talking very loudly how they're actually doing amazing and never been in better shape? Yeah, things are really shít back home and they've no idea how to mask it except with heavy denial.
In a kind of a twisted logic, Lavrov's words make sense. Prisons are now free to accept political prisoners, since many hard offenders were permanently "purified" from Russia by dying in Ukraine. 2-3 million Russians fled the country to avoid being mobilized, these were potential troublemakers and so Lavrov is happy to see them gone. Russian society is now cowering in fear, not daring to say a word against Putin -- Lavrov would call this "healthy society", for him, a graveyard is a model society.

Trump should be in prison before November for calling for insurrection that lead to a number of fatalities when he lost the last election but at least he has a good chance to be barred from running for political office again. If him getting elected is what pro putin posters are hanging on to as a prospect of hope that the Ukrainians will stop demolishing their military occupying their country then I hope they are disappointed. The EU is building up its arms industry and so is Ukraine so the ability of Ukraine to make moskovytes unwelcome in their country is unlikely to evaporate even if the USA electorate has another brain fart and elects that compulsive liar again.

As I understand it, when Putin came to power, he called a meeting with all the oligarchs, the same ones who had laughed at Boris Yeltsin, and informed them that it was business as usual, but with 50% (not sure of %, but it was big) paid directly to him. Prior to this, he had made an example of the biggest Oligarch of them all, Khodorkovsky, putting him in jail for 1o years in a very public trial. With the clear warning that he could and would do the same with anyone else who did not fall in line. And so, it has continued to this day. His personal wealth has to be in the multi billions bracket.
It's estimated his personal wealth is north of 200 billion, he doesn't own any successful companies, didn't invent a product that changed the world, made less than the average industrial wage before he was appointed leader,
