Go for it, you won't regret it
Even a performance for 55k is some bang for buck if your looking for a lot of poke, by the time you take a LR and add turbines very little $ between them...
Theres quite a large difference when you look at the actual cash cost versus the headline figures (which don't include VRT relief).
Select the cash, as opposed to finance, option and you'll see that RWD versus performance is about €19,400 difference - and not the €13,000 one might initially think.
Then what will the prices be like at the end of the first quarter with an inventory discount. Practically giving them away?
I think you've covered most of the bases there, maybe have a look at the BYD Atto 3 too. It's a little cheaper than the Y and a little bit smaller.
There are a few Polestar 2's in inventory (used/ex-demo) around the 40k mark you could consider although size wise not in EV6 and Enyaq territory. Weigh up the options and the Y is outstanding value.
Check the BYD Seal. Looking slightly expensive with the latest MY price cut but it's a much nicer car inside. I've a MY since March but I'd definitely have strongly considered the Seal if it had been available then. The AWD 530bhp at ~€52k is savage value.
Very hard to consider anything but a Y now, especially given it retains stalks for the foreseeable future
I'm in the same position, been hesitating for the last week and currently just waiting to sell my existing car before ordering (Tesla's trade in offer wasn't great at all). The only other thing I might test is a Volvo EX30
I was looking for something Y sized. I didn't fancy the VW either, don't love the look of the Enyaq, would have had a look at the EV6 but it was a good €10k more than the Y LR. BYD don't have anything directly comparable in Ireland yet, otherwise would definitely have had a look at what they were offering.
I was looking at PHEVs too but the price of used ones is just mental, 3 year old Hyundai Santa Fes with 70,000km on the clock and dealers want €48-50k for them. They're €60k cars brand new, crazy stuff.
That will change this year, the Juniper Y will be released probably Q4 - basically the "highland y"
At the price point it’s ID4 or MY.
Play close attention to spec as VW removed alot of the features from the base model.
May also depend on what Skoda do at the end of the month with regards their price drops.
A good point, I was always someone who never bothered with higher spec cars, providing the basics were there. Always considered it a waste of money, not being able to recoup when reselling. However you do get used to Tesla's high standard spec and would be difficult to go back..
Simple things like the reverse camera. Not sure if that’s standard on the base ID4 now.
Yes, also expensive bits such as a Heat pump
It is!
I'm surprised Tesla haven't released the very mild refresh outside of China yet. There must be a big build up of stock which they have to sell. The mild refresh does 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds compared to 6.9 for the current iteration, black plastic alloy covers, fabric instead of wood trim, and dash ambient lighting.
Hopefully we'll see the updated version soon.
The BYD Seal is a terrible crossover. The Seal U is coming later this year which is their competitor to the Model Y.
also a long way off the boot space available on the Y
Would that suggest the Model 3 is going to get a price drop as it seems odd that the 3 and Y would be at the same price point.
I was actually comparing LR with Turbines vs Performance, Cash was showing 2-3k difference.
Yup. Everytime there has been parity the 3 has been dropped within a few days/weeks.
For me, the only wheel upgrade (20") on the LR gives a total cash price of €7,478 versus the performance model.
apologies I get you now.
Just ordered MY RWD white at 42k! Anyone any idea how accurate delivery dates are at the moment?
Congrats, they're not too far off, there's a delivery thread to get a vibe

Placed the order today, thanks for the advice!
So am I right in saying that yesterday the base model Tesla Y was something like 46k and now down to 41,832k
so in cash terms about 5k shaved off overnight.
They had them at €44 odd in inventory.
I see the price now for my model y is €1500 for 2 years and €3000 for 4 years. Curious if anyone has recently taken the plunge?
Mod Note: Post moved from Tesla Extended Warranty thread
I'm assuming that this will eventually have a knock on effect on the second hand market? Places like Graham Walker cars are still listing M3 & MY 2022 & 2023 models for more second hand than they are brand new. Not sure what their strategy is because surely they won't be able to shift them for more than the cost of new models.
