540 all in for a bunch of 40 middling dairy bred heifers. Fr, hex lm and a scatter if aa. Kepak
560 all in flat for a serious shed of aa blks probably kill 340kg . These have the life fed out of them. Dawn.
Saw a woman get 5.70 heifers and 5.60 bullocks plus transport..a double load of aa and hex dairy cross. I'm not saying where so don't ask.
A friend of mine getting the same too, a rigid load on Friday and another today.
Larry gave €3 a kg livewight for bullocks and heifers hex and aax all out of frx cows
I have a few feeder Friesian cows. A few nice ones over 600kg. Would need another 6wks to fully finish.
With the good prices is now the time to take them to the mart, hold on, or will they rise
As a man said to me on here recently, "If prices are good now, then you better not miss that bus."
Prices should hold and even rise over the coming month but who knows with the factories.
I see kingdom mart in tralee on live stock live had no young stock at tall a tall for to nite sale I do say it was probably too cold for lads to head out
I have 4-5 nice 550-600 kg bullocks. R/U grade. Was planning to hold and finish of grass in July august as they come 30 months. Would let them go if I thought they could come into 1800 each. I am in the organic so feeding is an issue (and these cattle are not organic).
Yeah prob more likely to be 530-550 in the mart itself. Might be worth the bother of renting the scales and weighting them and the weanlings. They were 480-510 end of July. But weren’t on amazing grass, housed early and on middle of the road silage. No meal.
Couldn't try weighting them with a tape
Any bullock base price quotes for this week lads?
Midlands.
I sold a few yesterday from 650-690 kg, was feeding them the last 5 weeks or so. Made 1300 average.
I have 7 Angus heifers to sell, I don't think they are all out finished but wouldn't be far off..but it's a balance of not running out of silage too..so don't know whether to go with them or not this week?
What weight are the Angus heifers?
I'd be inclined to send them off if they were anyway near 550kg and had a decent flesh cover.
Wat would they kill into in money terms
At 550kg, they might be 280kg deadweight. If you got €5.40 for them (incl deductions, bonuses, etc.) then you'd have €1,512.
That's the equivalent of €2.75/kg for them at the mart. But agents are apparently paying €3/kg for AA cattle in the mart, which would give you €1,650.
All ballpark figures.
starting at 5:10 there is 5:20 going in places maybe more
Did the cows go to the mart? My own would be around 600kg, only started feeding nuts two weeks ago. I will hold on for another two weeks. They are only turning now.
Maybe the Chinese will eat a few of them
That would want to be a fair angus to kill out at 54%. 50-52% kill out would be a better estimate..
Angus heifers dairy x which are 90% of Angus sold well finished out of a shed will do well to be 275 kg cold from 550 kg weighted in the yard it's a no brainer to sell live at 3 per kg if you are.in a position to sell live
A 550 kg live heifer killing 280 /300 will have to be suckler bred r+/u grade which you have very few of these in Ireland with Angus on the card
Ye the mart, father is happier in the mart and on average over the years with very small numbers we tend to do aswell there over the factory.
The only thing with them cull cows is the eat plenty of silage. But it's easy enough put a bit of flesh in them.
I'd say a few are up near the 550, couple of smaller framed ones on it but they are nice well fleshed cattle all the same. We did better in the mart than in the factory this time last year, so that's why I'm a bit nervous of them..not a great judge of fat score.
Offered 5.10 base today for bullocks.
Didn't accept. He said he would ring me tomorrow.
Of course he will... my advice to everybody is take you time with the Chinese back in the game gives the factories great advantage with regards the firth quarter.
neighbour getting 5.60 flat Angus bullocks
Looking at the prices cattle were making in Cahir mart today the factories have a lot more scope to increase prices. Got €5.15 base for continental bullocks in factory in Southern part of country earlier this week.
Larry was quoting me 5.05 for a few bullocks there...1 overage P shìte one....1 middling HEX and 1 decent HEX....
I havent a leg to stand on...
That's not great... I'd kill the p and bring the herefords to the mart.
Any more improvement for the coming week?
Abp eager for china spec cattle
I’ve been told by 1 agent and another farmer today that there’s a 10 cent drop on the flat price quotes for hex and aa stock this week🤷♂️🤷♂️
I’ve a load to go myself this week so it’d be just my luck but I’m waiting for 2 agents to come back to me and I’ll know more then.
Base price for other breeds remaining the same.
