That's the way accountants calculate it AFAIK
A bottle of kefir each might be better value or let it multiply itself in whole milk like yoghurt.
Kefir bacteria will colonise gut, yoghurt bacteria only give a positive effect while passing through.
Yeah everything I buy off the vet or veterinary related like minerals boluses etc could add up to 40k a year
LOL, Let's have the chat again.
If you had those handy, middling high ebi cows (or maybe goats you would call them) you would not need a quarter of that stuff
Why wouldn’t you …..you skimp on minerals …vaccines herd health etc it’ll bite you in the ass on the double and at a time when you don’t want it to ….whatever tge make up of genetics
Minerals are a basic dietary requirement, but vaccines are an individuals choice.
Maybe Teagasc would do a trial on a herd using no vaccines…like they do with using liquid urea, humates, etc. 😀
I do
lepto
bvd
rota
salmonella
ibr
and ringworm
There’s a vaccine for ringworm?
Sunlight is my cure.
Does the vaccine work on horses?
Like insurance here ….I’ve dropped bvd no issue ….won’t drop lepto as don’t want to get it myself …ibr and salmonella also as I’ve had issues previously ….calves get bovipast for pneumonia and blackleg
Yeah polish vaccine I think- used it first last year as I always had a problem in spring born calves- calves were 15kg heavier going to the shed this year
Considering they are carrying at my guess around 350 head of stock it's on114 per head 🤔 🙄 minerals would cover large portion of that
Absolutely 💯
Whats your overall spend on vaccines?
Per head or per 100 head please.
Then again I self insure all claims up to €5k…because it’s cost effective. Rolling averages are very helpful when making decisions on annual spend.
Probably a lot different in Ireland, but if a medicine/chemical is found on site with the label in a ‘foreign’ language, there’s an immediate fine of €25k.
If that’s not how it’s in Ireland, it will change. EU in charge now.
Cows 12.50/head salmonella /ibr /lepto
calves 16.50 bovipast/blackleg
350 plus the vat and the rest
Why would anyone put up a picture of something that's not licensed for use here. Crazy stuff
I thought hanging up holly was common enough over there.
Yes it is. And it works OK.
BTW the product that Stan posted could be licensed in the EU as Poland is an EU member, but having it in stock labeled in a foreign language is a complete no no.
There’s a frog doing time because he imported herbicide from Spain. Got barred for life from ever farming again to boot.
It is licenced here
For people who aren’t that clever and open their mouths to catch flies
I was being Conservative to avoid the usual few having a go🤣
So your allowed to import veterinary medicine and freely use it on your herd.
Or maybe you have a special license?
Does evey medicine not have multiple languages on it, vets use generic drugs here and main label could be Spanish but leaflet would always have info in Spanish French English etc
In my experience ringworm is cyclical. It runs out of steam after a couple of years. Have had it on and off here, usually two years can have a bad dose and then nothing for the next 6 to 10 years. I believe they build up a resistance.
How stupid are you- it’s marketed in Europe- has a Hspa licence and is available from any decent vet
It's Czech not Polish(my Polish wouldn't be de best) djen dobra!
As herself says anywhere or anyone east of Germany is labelled as Polish in this country..
Is herself Czech?
Polish
