Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

Oh buddy you’ve just been caught rotten. Quit digging. Maybe just disappear for a while
Not even when the Burkes were dragged out of court again?
Conor Moore? Seriously? Wouldn’t agree with that at all.
Conor does excellent comical, and sharp-witted, skits of popular sports stars and a wide range of famous actors. Even going beyond the world sports and entertainment into the political “sphere”.
All very “current” and he doesn’t rely on the same, tired, impressions over and over.
One of his jokes on that "Callan kicks the year" was quite good as I am sure you will agree.
"Noel Kelly was like Jerry Maguire : Show me the money! and Ryan Tubridy was like Dougal Maguire: What's money Ted?"
Ah the famous 100k nephew. Was wondering when he'd be rolled out.
Possibly. When he runs out of anecdotes related to JFK, runs out of books he's read or can recommend, exhausted his rolodex of Irish celebrities vaguely known in the UK. Unfortunately he won't be able to call on the RTE canteen as Dermot Bannon and co are nobodies over there. Daniel O'Donnell is just about known.
His St Patricks Day show will be when it reaches rock bottom I reckon. Expect a fake orange beard, green hat, and shamrock stuck somewhere. Paddy Whackery turned up to the max.
Well I'm no Einstein but just as his theories of gravity and relativity predicted, there are black holes and then there are super massive black holes.
So you're saying this show can actually get worse?
In fairness to Callan, his Ray darcy material is brilliant
Emmet cmon give us a break this is a matter of taste and opinion, it's subjective, I think he's a pain in the hole
He's a better broadcaster than Tubridy though and far more talented.
Satire is actually an excellent form of comedy
Conor Moore is an excellent impressionist, heir apparent to Rosenstock’s “crown”.
If he were to get his own radio show I, personally, would certainly listen.
Not sure what the mods think about it all, it seems very weird
RTE was a cash cow for him, no oversight of financial, broadcast quality
He was calling the shots and unfortunately RTE allowed him free reign
Again you're referencing a post that we are all in agreement is unacceptable and abhorrent, so not really a valid point.
From what I can make of it as Tubridy's show gets worse, engagement between the pro NK camp and the rest of the posters on this thread will become more intense 😉
Everyone agrees that that was out of order, the thing is in terms of the tone your comment would be #2 and far worse than anything else that was said on here. So, like another poster said, you are doing exactly what you criticise others for.
You don't like Callan, I presume because he is not NK Management, and that is fine. Others don't like Tubridy and watch his "downfall" with an element of schadenfreude because he was overpaid by RTE which imposes an enforced fee on all of us. I have no problem with him working for a non-state company, he can get paid whatever they think he is worth there.
It's no different to what he's moaning about
Big smug head on him.
I won't be hate listening to Tubridy or hate reading his mail column either. Far better things to do. I listened to the radio show a couple times in the last week for research purposes. Its just mediocre, more of the same, not terrible, not great. He's worth no more than 100k a year and that seems like what he's on. As someone said earlier, it does reek of Formula One drivers who are able to buy a seat on a lesser team, bringing in sponsorship and so on. The fact he's syndicated in Ireland and now the Irish mail column, as well as the content of the radio show indicates he's desperate to stay relevant in Ireland, for reasons best known to himself.
His shtick does not travel or translate well, which is why he'd never make it in the US. He's at risk of alienating his UK based listeners, but the jury is still out on that one. Good luck to him, I hope he succeeds. But I think most can agree he's not good enough for RTE radio or TV, both talentwise and because of his actions in the last few years.
LOL at Gift Grub. Bualadh bos is when you give someone the clap.
You could change the channel and not hate listen. No?
It is written in a much more venomous tone than most of the criticism of Tubridy here.
..
Not a massive fan myself, hes hit and miss but that Tubridy sketch with the puppet was hilarious 😂
He did a fairly accurate sketch on the tubridy saga, I wouldn't be a fan but he handled it accurately and with sympathy also
A former DG being suspended by the board and then having to resign? Board members having to resign "early". A CFO gone. A new DG. RTE having to be bailed out. A near collapse in the licence fee collection. Oireachtas hearings. Reports from auditors. Job losses in RTE (400). Tubridy being removed from his radio show by RTE management and subsequently dumped. All this because of Tubridy and the 150K. It's the whole L'Oreal problem with RTE: they think that they're worth it.
Tune in for part two as the RTE talent have their contracts negotiated with RTE being under pressure to get value for money.
Regards...jmcc
You posted this on the Oliver Callan thread in the last hour....
"Was this absolute claptrap renewed for another year? More licence payers money being thrown away on lazy unfunny writing and genuinely pathetic impressions. I’d rather identify the corpse of a family member than listen to it."
It could have been his JFK book that got him an interview on some US TV programmes. The UK book was when he was trying to break into the UK market with some try-outs/holiday cover on BBC or other radio stations.
