US, UK, France and Germany condemns Iran's increasing nuclear enrichment production.
That's shockingly true. On the other hand, it also makes you wonder how well Israel's Iron Dome would deal with a serious threat rather than Hamas's home made rockets.
The iron dome isn't designed for big missles it's designed to deal with mass rocket attacks, but they do have US patriots and their own Davids Sling to intercept missles at longer ranges and higher altitudes, along with their F35 fighters long before they ever get to Israel, backed up by the US.navy destroyers , Iran hasn't the ability to currently stop Israel flying to Iran to attack them directly,or interpret Israeli long range missiles
The S-300s and S-400s in Syria remain under Russian control and are primarily for the protection of Russian bases and assets. They won't fire on Israeli jets without orders and likewise Israel doesn't strike Russian assets.
After the Kremlin started its military adventure in Syria in 2015, it reached an agreement with the Jewish State: Israel reportedly pledged to guarantee the safety of Russian citizens and military installations in Syria during its strikes on Iranian militias and Syrian military targets. In return, Moscow promised not to use its weapons to repel Israeli attacks.
They maintain a deconfliction hotline to avoid accidental escalation.
Since the war in Ukraine, Russia has pulled out at least one S-300 battery from Syria to use elsewhere.
Considering that they have had very little success against the Ukrainian 4th gen aircraft over the last 2 + years I doubt they can even see Israeli F35s let alone try to shoot them down
looks like iran backed houthis have given an immediate 2 fingers to UN Security Council
Houthis call west’s bluff with renewed Red Sea drone assault
The US might want to send a very sharp and loud message because between Ukraine and this they are looking less then Stellar on the worlds stage,no other US president would have allowed this to continue
They are at it again probably.
unclear if these are houthis or iranian pirates .. either way a serious lesson needed or international shipping in the region will come to a halt
Ireland can only dream of an F-5
The Taliban never needed any never mind one.
Terrorist generally don't
Yes, looks like the Iranians hijacked the ship.
Looks like military strikes are in discussion Hopefully we see something happening over the next few days
Reports of aircraft and missles enroute to Yemen ...
Multiple strikes being reported now ....
I guess nobody told the UN
I wonder have Iran and Russia agreed to push the West to see how much they'll take before reacting?
The invasion in Ukraine didn't lead to outright attacks. The Hamas attack on Israel and Israel's response hasn't forced the West to step in but some Yemeni rebels threatening the global economy has done it (though, the Iranian navy seizing an Omani ship should have been more alarming).
We've just moved a few steps closer to open war between the West and Russia/Iran and, at the root of it, its about where the West gets its oil from.
Sleepy Joe was woken up! Just not sure if "he's filled with a terrible resolve" though.
Everyone in the middle east told them not to escalate but they could not resist and jumped straight in with both feet again.
A good chance the Red Sea will become classed as a warzone within a week now. Hopefully EU countries have learnt and don't follow join them on another misadventure.
Maybe the Houthis shouldn't have opened fire on American ships. Or should the US just wait until one of their ships is actually hit?
I'm surprised America waited so long and gave so many warnings.
As far I can can see, it was the Houthis escalating. Such a weird viewpoint to ignore those attacks on ships and see the US led response as an escalation.
On the surface, Houthis were attacking Western ships and the US launched on attack.
On a deeper level, Iran, by way of the Houthis, was messing up the flow of global trade and increasing the price of oil (affecting inflation in the West where people are already fed up).
Iran doesn't care; it's already an international pariah and it has its own oil supply. Who is affected by less traffic through the Red Sea and increased oil prices? Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is also supporting the Houthis' opponents in Yemen so the US attacking the Houthis is a win-win for the Saudis. The Red Sea is secured (for the time being) and the Houthis are weakened inside Yemen.
I wonder what Iran's next move will be. It feels like they are lashing out to counter domestic instability and its waning influence as a Russian ally.
Saudi Arabia is sending oil through the Red Sea now. Maybe not for long but they can always go past Africa to deliver to Europe if it closes.
Or maybe it’s just about stopping the Houthis from attacking innocent people?
Innocent people are being attacked.in dozens of different places all around the world, several of these are very much in the spotlight at the moment (Gaza/Israel, Ukraine, Syria).
You need to ask why this incident is deemed more worthy of intervention than the others.
What do you think HJ ?
Who's everyone,
You were the one telling us nothing would happen because it was against the law and The UN would need to give permission,
That was wrong and I don't hear anyone in the middle east crying about it with the exception of Iran , but more strikes are ready to go if needed.
Breaking news .
Russia demanding a urgent UN security council meeting regarding the strikes on Yemen.....
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
- They're guaranteeing global supply chains as, iirc, the Suez Canal/Red Sea is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, if not actually THE busiest. If this shipping lane is deemed unsafe, all the Europe-China trade will have to go around Africa, slowing the whole thing down.
- Helping out the Saudis: Two-fold: Jeddah is a Saudi port on the Red Sea and one of the busiest in Asia. In Yemen, the Saudia are backing the government who are fighting the Houthis. If the Houthis, as claimed, have suffered significant logistical damage as a result of these strikes, not only does it make the Red Sea safer but it also hinders their fight against the (Saudi-backed) Yemeni government.
- Trying to avoid further deterioration of the Middle East. Like plugging holes in a bullet-ridden bucket. We have the civil war in Syria, another one in Yemen, the Israel/Gaza conflict with the possiblity of Lebanon/Hezbollah getting involved. Another potential flashpoint takes the focus away from efforts to control the existing ones. I think this is a case of the US trying to nip this one in the bud and they have chosen the situation with the least complicated optics in terms of international opinion.
in Gaza, Ukraine and Syria, there are ongoing conflicts with two sides involved.
Who else is going to intervene on the behalf of the innocent merchant seamen being attacked by the Houthis, civilian sailors working for European companies?
Not to mention that the Houthis launched an attack on a British and US warships, which apart from being remarkably stupid, is an act of aggression.
The British and Americans are supplying and supporting Israeli genocide in Gaza. Their warships are a legitimate target.
Their warships Shoot back and will hit their targets repeatedly unlike Irans puppets in Yemen
