And only a suspended sentence?!
Poor chap couldn't even buy himself a new chair for his room, or even afford the home he was in. Luckily the home were decent and said he could stay on
She was only sentenced yesterday, so the program wasn't able to tell us.
24 Hours in Police Custody: Woman who defrauded her uncle out of more than £200k
Her body was in bits - looked like she had bruises or sores or something everywhere, is that what drug addicts look like? How the feck did she manage to keep her job around kids
Another excellent episode this week.
Serious amount of money stolen from her own uncle. The middle of her nose absolutely wrecked from cocaine. Grim and she is around kids for her job or was...didn't say her sentence?
That solicitor almost a bigger scumbag than his client "better call saf" tosser clearly making plenty of money by getting people to just say no comment
the intent wasn't to destroy her life. the intent was to make her feel vulnerable so she would go back to him for safety.
Does make you wonder with the extremity of what he did - was trying to destroy her life just because she broke up with him. Seems like a very dangerous man who doesn't see any wrong in what he did and is on the brink of doing something and just needs that little push, one might say a psychopath - would have been good to know some of his history
I was expecting a good few years for threats to kill, it’s hardly a deterrent with such a lenient sentance, if he goes guilty it’s 1/3 off and then another 1/3 off for good behaviour
All this bullshít about the higher power only testing the strong etc. He's clearly away with the birds and the sentence seemed pretty light given how extreme the messages and reports were.
Something said i found very chilling
When he said "my next girlfriend will be my last"
New episode tonight. Interesting as usual.
Knew something very off with the ex right from the start... odd the messages started just after the split up...
Not wanting to hand over the phone was a very clear indication.
He is utterly delusional, playing the victim...still...scary, would worry about any future partner.
New episodes this Monday at 9pm (nov 25th)!
I couldn't believe the guy who died in prison was only 45.
That is some grim place - those people looked many many years older than they were, so much despair in one tiny village
Such depressing and short lives some people have.
I'm still trying to get my head around the mate of the lady who was murdered, the wee man that lived across the road. He kept saying 'she was very house proud' and that he had to take his shoes off when he went into her house. The house looked like Beirut.
The homeowner who had 75 CCTV cameras on his house must have been a new record 😂.
A tough watch last night (I went and watched the 2nd part on the player too). Certainly wouldn't be taking a trip to the town of Wisbech any time soon, looked like a bleak place.
Without spoiling it for anybody, it did seem to me that this show was aired to take a bit of the heat off the police for their initial investigation.
New episode Monday…
Yeah - not as good as usual
An unusual ending to last nights new episode.
I won't spoil it but it looked like it was going to be a 2 parter right til the last minute.
New episode Wednesday this week (5th June, C4, 9PM).
Was actually scheduled for tonight, so anyone who uses series-link might double check their EPG picks it up. Think it got pushed back the extra 24 hours (😀) to avoid the first Sunak v Starmer debate.
Yes watched the last series, it was great. The repeat of last Sundays show goes out again on Thursday at 11.15pm on BBC2, then on Sundays the show is on at 9pm on BBC2 and 10.50pm on BBC2NIRL.
Another great show that I don't know how I missed that would be definitely of interest to peeps here - Forensics: The Real CSI - BBC2 (couldn't find anything with search here)
There's an old episode on channel 4+1 at 10 tonight which is well worth a watch.
Related show on channel 4, to catch a copper first episode well worth a watch.
This explains it I think pretty well
Why do suspects agree to appear on camera for 24 Hours in Police Custody? | Radio Times
There was something really weird about the story chronology of the guy you are talking about in your last paragraph, Curtis Long.
In the show it looked as if he was arrested, interviewed, and something during the course of his 24 Hours in Police Custody the police came to the conclusion that whilst he was at the scene, he didn't do any stabbing and it wasn't his car that drove over the victim. And thus he got released. We definitely saw no clip of excited police officers awaiting direction from the CPS, or him being brought to the custody desk to have the CPS decision and charges read to him. Stuff they are always eager to show.
But a little big of googling shows that he was actually charged with murder Three men appear in court over double stabbing murder in Houghton Regis | ITV News Anglia so the whole 'police quickly coming to the conclusion that he was innocent' stuff we saw was actually months later. Hence the reference at the end to 3 months on remand.
Interestingly the link above references another person charged with murder, Mark Griffiths. We saw no mention of him at any stage, no interview etc. It may have been a personal decision of his (Mark Griffiths) for his arrest/interviews/charge not to appear on the show given he ultimately was not brought to trial. Whereas Curtis Long chose differently for his own reasons. But I think it's clear that the show took a few liberties with how exactly they portrayed Curtis's time in the station.
Yes, heavy sentences. 38 and 34yrs which must be served before applying /consideration for parole. Their lives are effectively over.
I enjoyed the monologues from the young detective who had studied psychology. The suspect with the kid that had to go into care was a total psyco with narcistic traits intrigued, but did not fool him.
Stone cold on the murder facts and footage but gets upset when his actions are impacting him personally, then laughing and joking with his solicitor after feigning upset over graphic video evidence.
He then had the neck to say the custody officer, "yes bail me" after he was charged with murder.
It was all about him. He has 34 yrs me time now. Sorry the other guy arrested with him had to spend 3 months in jail. He must have been charged.with something, as they could not have detained him otherwise. I thought he was going down when he was recorded saying to the other guy through the walls something like " they can't prove we murdered anyone bruv"
The victims were each stabbed multiple times. The guy who survived was stabbed 8 times. One of the men killed wasn't even in the pub for the row. The intent to kill was very clear.
I thought the sentencing was a little harsh given the circumstances that kicked it all off in the pub, it was one of the victims who initiated things. 38 years and 34 without parole, something like 14 and 18 years would have been more fitting given neither of them set out to murder that day and the car driver was likely feeling under threat with all the people around him at the time.
