Is it okay to cross a continuous white line to overtake a cyclist? Can somebody point me to the relevant legislation in relation to this (in the Road Traffic Act)
Thanks
Hmmm.
If I was driving on the road I keep referring to, and came up behind a slow-moving cyclist, not sure if I'd cross the white line to overtake either, if there was a Garda car right behind me.
It's never actually happened, but you have me thinking now. And being honest, I don't think I'd chance it, just in case the Garda was in a real "jobsworth" mood that day.
That means the law doesn't apply to a driver, cyclist, or pedestrian being confronted by an emergency they couldn't have reasonably expected.
Otherwise it would have been written 'an emergency, cyclist or pedestrian suddenly confronting a driver'.
I wouldnt mind testing the resolve of a Garda to stay behind me while I followed a slow moving cyclist for a couple of kms
Don't worry...a true "jobsworth" garda would stop the cyclists and do him/her for obstructing traffic! (happened to me a few years ago)
You don't go to court they deal with you on the road
If most gardai see you over taking on a cwl they will do you
Ok does anyone know anyone done for this offence?
