General Election 2025 - Not voting for FF/FG/SF

I need help to find a party to vote for in 2025

There are 3 conditions that are important to me.

1. They do not support an open door imagination policy.

2. They do not support promoting welfare as a lifestyle choice.

3. A focus on 0 tolerance in relation to crime and justice.

Are their any current parties that fit this criteria?

I dont think anyone is expecting the likes of Aontu or the local independent gobdaw to be in any sort of powerful position after the election.

I imagine we will get some sort of slobbery coalition of SF/FF.

I would like to see the current Government parties decimated especially FG, angry back benchers, leadership heaves etc, a clear out of the fools, and maybe when they come back looking for votes in 5 years time, they might actually have something that I will vote for.

My vote in this election is just to give the Government parties a kicking and a message that the current term was unacceptable and hopefully there will be something better in 5 years time.

Sadly I accept that this will probably mean that the gormless wasters SF will be the main party of the next Government and that could be a disaster, but I will suck that up for 5 or ideally less years in the hope that it will drive significant change in the likes of FG.

No party seems willing to deal with welfare fraud.

There are nearly 40,000 construction workers on the Live Register in a housing crisis.

My own in-laws claimed JSA and DA for years, while operating 40,000 gross nixer. They got 100,000 in third-level grants. They themselves say "why would you work?"

Of the three people I know on DA, maybe one of them, at a push, deserves it. But all three could do some work.

Aontu don't support open borders.

However, #2, they strike me as a left-wing party, so I don't know that they would reform JSA / DA / OPFP.

Although I haven't actually checked that.

I really feel the tide will change this year. More and more people are challenging the status quo openly as far as I can see and feel even in our local community.

The Taoiseach is calling anyone who disagrees with his immigration plan a facist, racist or far right extremist.

Instead of tackleling the problem. They are taping over the cracks by giving immigrants a sleeping back and tent or sneaking them into small villages hoping no-one will notice. Hence local council not being informed.

We also have Helen McEntee who is purposely being ignorant to the fact that people who break the law no longer fear the justice system.

At this stage even the Gardai fear for their lives.

But there is "Nothing to see here" according to the minister of Justice.

We then have the issue with Housing.

It seems that investment firms buying up estates is a bad thing.

Tuath Housing buying up estates using Government funds is a good thing.

People who are paying alot of tax and want to buy a home are left homeless in both cases.

The above are the people who are financing everything.

Unfortunately FF/FG/SF are not the parties to change any of this.

I see some other small parties who are too far right and would would prefer to leave the EU or stuck in the past as ultra nationalists.

That's not who I'm looking to vote for.

Robbie has hit it on the head, for you it's going to be farmers alliance or possibly Aontú.

The issue we have is the implementation and definition of what the 3 policies that matter to you are.

For example, FG/FF would argue right now that Ireland currently does not have an open door policy to immigrants, where as you may feel at the moment it does.

They'd also argue that they are tough on crime and a big FG election promise was to look after those who get out of bed and go to work.

There is room for a far right party in Ireland at the moment it would seem.

In Germany now AfD (right-wing) hold 83 seats/10%, this is a drop from 2017 of 94 seats. Pre-2017 AfD had 0 seats. It just goes to show that if the in power parties do not listen to the people, they vote in the right wing.

what would you do on 40 hours of free time a week, week in week out, in miserable cold rain in the countryide.............dunno.............it makes people far healthier and happier to be working, social interaction, challenging view, job satisfaction. I have always been happier working, and made great friends. Hard to imagine young people especially would prefer not to work.

None of them ffg sf plan on doing anything about welfare wonderland. Insane fg are obsessed woth welfare given there isn't a single one in it for them. Their opprn the doors to the world policy is fpi.g nothing other than driving up rental and purchase prices for irish citizens, many who have paid tax here for decades, working poor slaves. Enter Ukrainians etc, same welfare you are entitled to if you lost your job after decades of working here. They get it over night. Its a banana Republic

What's the plan ? At what point to we stop the current madness.

First full blow recession we get is going to be fun.

We have way overstretched with our house/import the world strategy.

Will the EU pick up the tab if so why ?

Don't understand why so many native governments are intend on destabilising their own countries.

We have 3 parties in government 2 traditionally "sworn enemies" that have been basically nodding their heads in agreement for the last 10 years. More so the last 2.

The 3rd is punching way above its weight that anomaly hopefully will be sorted next GE.

Then the so called opposition that's unrecognisable from the party it was 10 years ago, quest for power maybe, they seem to more extreme in their views, more lock downs, more immigration, more hate speech laws, more free money for certain segments.

They seem to have forgotten article 31 when it applied to them. That was a joke as well.

Anyway back on point what's the plan ?

I wrote it in a paper in college 35 years ago and still believe it that anyone on a social welfare payment long term should be put on a community employment program.if they refuse, cut their payments

It should never be more beneficial to not work and this government has done just that.

When you said a family of four did you mean a single parent and three children then? The income threshold for a medical card is €607 for a lone parent.

If you're working you don't get fuel allowance. If over the limit on earnings which you are, then medical card is lost

Sure I understand that it’s more than double, and if money was tight it would be a big bonus. But was giving an example of how I have seen it directly been a deterrent to work. If it was €500 versus zero it’s one thing, but 500 versus 230 is so much less attractive IMO.

Person in question is well qualified, masters etc., will find a another job so hasn’t availed of any courses, and wouldn’t be able to stay on jobseekers long term anyway due to the means test but still interesting I thought.

A family of 4 with 1 working on minimum wage gets less than the same family on social welfare, plus they loose the medical card, fuel allowance, double weeks etc.

Why would they bother.

I'm down a euro this year on last.

Meanwhile someone who never worked a day in their live got an increase of. 12e plus 2 double payments and fuel allowance.

If you don't want to work plenty of excuses not to work.

Minimum wage is €12.50 an hour, so that's 40 hours a week which is €500. Jobseekers is €232

While on job seekers plenty of courses available to reskill. Personally if I was on jobseekers I would do courses etc to keep myself busy.

None of the main parties are looking to change any of this, in reality Sinn Fein plan is to pay more to people not less.

I’m not sure if a huge problem nor what can/should be done about it but in my opinion our social welfare system absolutely disencourages work.

A family member was let go from their job a few months ago and is on jobseekers, while they have done a number of interview there is no sign of work in their chosen profession.

They looked into getting a minimum wage job over Christmas until they get their next role and it really didn’t make any sense, sure 40 hours a week at minimum wage beats jobseekers but when adding in things like travelling expenses and the opportunity cost of losing 40 hours of free time during the week it really wasn’t attractive compared to jobseekers.
