Sure, but nonetheless, the belief is that Putin's propaganda at the very least swung the US elections in Trumps favor, and ditto, Brexit. And he's played similar cards worldwide. Quite a lot of flash points around the world would quietly die away if Putin was no longer around to nourish them.

People view war as a desire for more territory, what if that is not what drives Putin but his desire in his old age is to ensure his name is featured prominently in history books with a Great prefix, and if that causes deaths of millions of Russians and Europeans well so what from his pov, he himself can only die once
They wouldn't have to they just have to delay any foreign aggression until NATO forces arrrve within 72 hours, unfortunately Ukraine weren't w NATO country so there was no back up arriving in the form of hundreds of thousands of NATO soldiers.

I suppose the misconception I had is that if a grenade lands right on top of a person like that, it would blow them to literal bits, but thanks to all of this war footage, I now know that isn't quite true.
Too much Hollywood, for years in movies and TV a single hand grenade could blow a car /military vehicle 10ft + in the air or demolish parts of buildings ,most grenades only have a small amount of explosives in them , they look great on screen but in reality they are less than spectacular

Well, his place in history is well assured all right, not in the manner he will like. In the annals of the infamous he will stand out like a bright beacon in the darkness. And the sooner that happens the better for the world.
This has been obvious for more than a year now. Unfortunately for Ukraine they are being used as a tool to slowly depleat the Russian army over time and neither Europe nor the US is particularly interested in seeing a massive instant collapse and possible breakdown of chain of command in a nuclear armed nation..

Russia's military is stronger now than at the start of 2022 , a working alliance swapping tech and know how is now in place between Russia, China, Iran, and NK. Germany is currently sabotaging its industrial and chemical sectors due to the cutting off of cheap energy from Russia , did you know that BASF alone consumes as much natural gas as Switzerland.

That's some amount of spin to come to that conclusion. What this war has conclusively shown is that Russian weaponry is no match for the west's overall.
If Russia ever find a way to combat the Patriot missile system I might go some way to agreeing with you. That would be a game changer. As it is we see over the skies of Kyiv their missiles are about as effective as Saddam's scud missiles were. The vast majority of their drones and missiles are shot down . Also look what the western weaponry is doing to their navy in the crimea region.
But it seems to be on the card and not just an unfounded rumours as claimed on here by some posters.
