Ya they will sure it was the recommended way to dry cows since before the inception of acot
I watched some of that dispersal sale in Cahir earlier. Didn’t see all the cows selling but plenty went for €1500-1800. To my untrained eye it seemed to depend mostly on milk delivered last year, then calving date and what they were in calf to. Milk delivered was around 4,500 in 1st lactation, up to 6-7k for most, but up to 8-9k in some cases.
The 1st lactation cows were similar but they probably averaged €100-200 less overall.
The maiden/yearling heifers were sold in batches of 4, weighed from 220-270kg, and went for €650-800. That seemed like a bit of value to me, given the above figures of the herd they were coming from and the cost to get a calf to its 1st birthday.
I’d have bought some but I’m going to try pick out a few from a cousin’s herd this week.
If that looks like verifying there'll be slurry moving like no one has ever seen from the window opening until the rain/snow falls. Lads will be under serious pressure to get it out
Which of the apps was that sale on ?
Surly the farmer would be doing that to stop tank’s filling and having to spread water, looking for a grant to keep water out would be hard sell to justify.
Emptied 2 tanks I’d been storing parlourvwashings in today …..very surprised at ground conditions considering how wet last few weeks have been …contractor booked and will be tearing into slurry next Friday /Saturday ….I see no reason why season can’t open early next week for lads on land that is dry and can travel
Rain was falling with such speed it flowed off land i was out on land and it surprised me how dry it was but theres wet spots where i never seen before it could be next april before these dry havev tracks washed away that have been in 20yrs
Anyone have any issues with air purge and bottom fill system? Thinking of putting it in here
have a back up compressor in case the one being used breaks down.. other than that fire ahead...
Great job no more milk spilling on top of tank. If you have an auto washer on machine make sure to put a safety latch on wash pipe so you can't put machine in wash mode if milk line is still attached to bottom fill.
Livestock Live.
Are you looking for a few?
Drain the compressor every few months, we had problems with tbc, it was the water in the bottom of the compressor that we eventually found was the problem
Do you need a filter on the air line?
This is how it's set-up here
Theirs no contamination from compressor
Think we've a filter on new set up, wasnt one on old one
7 planes visible over the farmyard at the minute all coming our going from America
Crazy stuff with the s**te been slung at us
Just in the door from lanzarote, airport there handling roughly a plane every 3 to 4 minutes between arrival s and departure s its unreal to think the problem is the cows, absolutely no doubt there is a big cover up when it comes aviation emissions
Alanis could add another verse to Ironic after reading that post...
It gets better.did a bit of googling and calculations since and our family of five holiday accounted for 2.5 tons of carbon give or take.so each plane load to and from lanzarote to Ireland is roughly 130 tons of carbon .open to correction as it was just a quick look for figures but if you start thinking about it and working stuff the penny drops
How did you get those calculations? 2.5 tonnes seems very big
Have you covered the flying part of the flight as well as the onground portion in them figures?
All CO2 calculations in Ireland for the aviation industry are based only from the on ground portion of the flight as far as I know.
People are all going for weekends now to Portugal and Spain, know couples going 4 times a year. The height of madness the whole thing
It's cheaper to go abroad for a holiday than to stay in hotels here
A few years ago you’d get fined and maybe arrested if you travelled more that a few miles from your house, now you can come into this country from anywhere in the world, throw your passport away and get accommodation, food and whatever else you want for free. That’s what i’d call madness. I wouldn’t blame anyone for getting out of this country as often as they can rather than getting ripped off here.
According to Leo and Helen you’re part of the far right now Tanko.
Anyone who doesn’t agreed with their open door asylum policy is automatically far right.
Yeah this view of if you question anything now re asylum you are automatically far right, had with a relation over Xmas.
All I questioned was where is the evidence that the males fleeing albania/georgia are fleeing persecution?
Yes anybody is entitled to seek refuge here but they must go thru the proper procedures
He had a lot of booze on board so we parked it😁
If they get an inspection they could be refused derogation in future unless they can complete 20, no issue if not selected for inspection.
Contrary to popular belief Pasturebase is not the only grass measuring software they can use, but it is the only one with a 30 day rule, the other providers are not free but happy to take your money to enter any dates you like.
Sorry I meant all the anto farmjng sentiment in regards to the environment, and people flying for weekends...
We have a 3 stage charcoal filter set up on our airline aswell as what you have there
Google away yourself but the range of figures I found were 250kilos per hour per passenger-115 grams per km per passenger or 5.5 tons per passenger for a trans Atlantic flight to San Francisco. Feel free to correct me. As far as I know flying emissions are just not assigned to any country
Lanzarote is nice this time of year.
You see all this crap about the likes of Dublin airport being carbon neutral because they do a bit of recycling. And paying carbon offsets when you book your flights. It's all BS and manipulation, some of which we could do with on our side.
No need for you to feel guilty about the emissions anyway. You will have them offset in no time with all your pasture and hedgerows.
