Have we ever had a more useless set of politicians? Sure FF share some blame but primarily FG have created the environment for all the problems of today domestically.
They have had more than enough time to sweep up the aftermath of the post Celtic Tiger recession and get society functioning again. They have made a right mess of social cohesion.

But that's what's happening.
New asylum seekers are sleeping in tents.
For a while maybe but unless I'm mistaken so far they have all received accomodation within a couple of months.
None of them are stupid, they have researched the system, got on the ground info. from their friends and decided it's worth the trip here.
Just look at the number of foreign nationals on the housing list, of course it has an impact.
Also anyone with addiction issues or engaging in antisocial behaviour should not be housed either, they can live in homeless shelters until they have proven to be clean and booted out again if they cause trouble. Our politicians seem more concerned about the rights of those that make other people’s lives miserable.
No surprise and it's only going to get worse. Think we'll look back on these figures in ten years time and wish we only had 13,500. FF/FG or FF/SF are not going to be able to do anything to stop this, unfortunately.
I can say me, my GF & child are on that list. It’s extremely stressful & have called every TD, council, charitys etc basically anybody that could help us. And nope, they can’t do anything.
Only for my parent’s we would be well & truly Fucked.

It'll still be a lottery who get accom and who doesn't if you are a male on your tod. Ireland is an increasingly cold house for migrants, literally and figuratively. January in tented accom anyone? Throw in a few frosty nights and the odd storm. Sounds like fun.
"homeless" it's a different definition then in my days. There are feck all truely homeless.

Important to note that these are people registered as homeless (difficult to do as it makes govt figures looks bad) in the opinion of the local authority. You could easily multiply that figure by ten to get more accurate stat

ah x10 might be a stretch, but theres definitely a lot more out there, people sleeping on couches and what not, its a mess...

I'm always amazed at the number of people who have gone through the Irish educational system (or some of it) and yet still seem to believe that homelessness will disappear when "FFG" (sic) are no longer in government. Even allowing for the probability that most of them were in the remedial stream at school, I still find it amazing that they are prepared to believe such a nonsensical proposition.
Newstalk interviewed a newly arrived asylum seeker today who has no accommodation.

Immigration compounds the problem, that cannot be denied.
The long term solution is to fix the problem. The short term solution is stop making it worse.

Thought about what? Maybe they had their own home, had a child, and then lost their home. It can happen to anyone.
Also, the ability to buy a house is getting so far away from people that I honestly don't blame people not waiting for the ideal living situation, your life could easily pass you by waiting for that.
...be very careful with downplaying this situation, its clearly obvious established parties such as ffg, are in serious trouble, theres clearly wind behind up ending election outcomes now, this is currently happening in many countries, and is set to continue now, including here, so get ready!
attempting to ridicule these folks, will pretty much splatter egg in your own face, this is similar to pre trump elections, the deplorables etc, i.e. the era of the established is over, so get ready!
...and yes, our property problems will not be resolved this decade, in fact, they might not even be resolved next decade either, but such folks, dont actually give a sh1t about that, they just want the established gone, and they ll succeed!
...you d be very surprised of the amount of well educated folks that ll turn out and not vote the established this time around, for the reasons given....
