New part looked the same to me, the housing was still plastic and will probably crack again. I did come across metal aftermarket ones though
Hi Folks,
Was on M50 doing 110kms and flicked down for cruise control to hold that speed but car went up to 120kms which was the speed limit. On way back i was doing 125kms and flicked down to cruise at 120kms but it held at 125kms, am i doing something wrong?
Hi all.
I'm being offered 31k as trade in for my 211 Model 3 SR+ (40k) on the clock. What do people think of the valuation?
Thanks
Not doing anything wrong. The cruise control/AP is a bit funny like that. CC will go to the detected speed limit, or if you are above 120kph on a motorway, it will cruise at the speed you were doing when you activated CC. Sometimes on R roads, the speed limit will go from 60 to 80 or 80 to 60 for example, but CC won't always match the new limit. Tesla have some work to do in this area.
there is a setting to either set the cruise control at your current speed, or at what the car believes is the posted speed limit, it’s under the Autopilot settings.
your car is obviously set to speed limit and not current speed.
and if you are going above the speed limit when enabling cruise control (when it’s set to speed limit), then it will set the speed to your current speed.
eat their hands off
Are you upgrading to the refresh M3 or something else?
@DrPsychia something else but still an EV
Super, thanks folks.
The new model 3 has power struts both sides of the boot so should also alleviate the reliance on single (left hand side) power strut
wow, where are you being offered that, or are you trading in for something a few rungs up?
it’s a huge premium to the current trade in offers
For those considering selling a Tesla it appears as though Vector Motors are active in seeking second hand Tesla's. Attached is a copy of a recent post on Tesla Owners Facebook - no connection btw. Tesla themselves give very poor trade in values.
I usually find with these kinds of ads that they obviously have a huge market for these types of vehicles and they're literally telling the customer they'll be able to sell them easily only to then make a really poor trade in offer. for some reason I've experienced this with MSL and with Audi directly. Doesn't make any sense to me that a main dealer of the vehicle in question could offer lower than a random dealership that doesn't even sell that make of vehicle and will be selling it onto another dealer somewhere.
Both times this has happened to me I have then been given a lecture by the dealer on the value of my own car and advice on how car dealers work as if it's so difficult to understand.
These are 41k new now so 10k depreciation over 3 years is pretty good going for any car
The difference between Tesla and Main Dealership is that Tesla does not have a dealership and have no real interest in selling second hand cars. They offer trade in's as a convenience but this comes at a cost, as they offload to the trade based on info/pics provided quoting without even viewing car and these factors conspire to keep offers low.
Anyone any suggestions on the value of a 222 m3 RWD with 45k km?
I've had a couple of tradein estimates from tesla between 26 and 28k over the past couple weeks and some slightly higher from the trade.
When I say value I mean trade value btw, I'm not going to sell privately as the car is on finance and wouldnt be easy to sell to a sceptical Irish population!
Look at Graham Walkers retail
price and knock about €5k off that. They need that margin to cover themselves so they don’t get burned again. Thats what my trade friends say.
Probably low 30's at best I'd imagine and dealer would try and sell mid 30's maybe slightly higher.
Assuming a private person can buy the whole point is the finance will be paid off by you for sale? How much for a fellow boards member?
Yeah and theyll undercut others then sell at a markup. Which is their business and thats fine.
im on the lookout for a model 3 if anyone willing to sell to a boards member privately.
Yes but the point is if the finance is 110% or more of the outstanding finance (eg let's say the finance is 40k outstanding and I sell for 35k) there would be 5k negative equity so I'd have to pay the finance company the balance. Private folks don't like buying finance outstanding cars (I used this in the past to get a bargain!) at the best of times so I don't think anyone would be willing to buy from me.
I'm happy to hear any offers from boardsies north of 32k (highest trade offer so far) that are aware of the above. (EG purchaser will be sending purchase price amount to the finance company and I will send the balance)
If it’s got to be a trade in, and you’ve clearly shopped around, then those prices reflect where the market is at - I’d have guessed similar, just putting a finger in the air.
No no, not a trade in necessarily, just a trade price. I am of course open to private offers from boardsies aware of the outstanding finance but I am not listing it on donedeal and having the finance conversation with tens of callers
I saw that, and in countries where you can get the power strut retrofitted to the older Model 3 (I think it might just be in China) they're fitting two power struts. I wonder if using a single one is not up to the task.
I never noticed the 2022 M3 only had 1 power strut. Not something I checked. It takes on a decent load, there really should be 2 of them. I wonder if it is simple to replace the manual strut with a powered one. I see the part can be got here... https://www.tesland.com/en/model-3-power-strut-trunk-left/
I had watched a lot of videos of people who've received their refresh M3's. One thing I've noticed from their drives is the huge number of bing-bongs from TeslaVision when navigating around carparks or narrow streets. Anyone here with a 2023 M3/MY frequently annoyed by all the false-positive bing-bongs?
I dont take any notice. I believe in myself knowing my limits before i had a tesla.
Proximity alerts. I get the same in the 530e and the older M3 with USS.
Have you got an offset set on speed assist (cruise control)?
Read up on it here: Tesla Model 3 Manual - Speed Assist
There's no need to check, every Model 3 on Irish roads has one (left hand side) powered strut. It's only the new incoming Model 3 Highland where Tesla have moved to dual powered struts.
In any case the powered strut is much thicker than it's non-powered version.
