There’s a guy that does pizzas from a trailer in banna and a few more places has it.
Think it’s the coffee route hes going though not pizzas.
not sure what you are referring to here? the Glasshouse unit?
Sorry apologies yes the glasshouse.
Thought I’d quoted an earlier comment.
Can't imagine the guys in the ugly mug will be too happy about it!
If the coffee and prices are better in the new place it's the death of the UM. It's on life support as it is
There is a planning application out for a new unnamed fastfood drive through/sit in restaurant in the Manor west overflow carpark at the back of the Range right next to McDonalds. I'm pretty sure it's going to be KFC. If approved, the traffic in that area is going to be even more fun...
Happy new year to all of you!
I thought that the Range had planning to put in a garden centre there?
yeah, its not great at the moment. I love their coffee, but there's no variety of food or cakes. And the prices of the cakes etc are too expensive. Its a nice cosy place, nice staff, but needs to up their game a bit, especially with competition looming! I am sure they are getting worried, but that's business!
You are correct in thinking that, the garden centre would occupy the area towards the Butchers / Pagoda whereas the new restaurant would sit next to it facing the hotel.
McDonalds were going to replace their restaurant with a larger 2 storey building but that never materialised in the end despite getting planning permission. If this new drive thru gets the go ahead there's no way they'll allow access from the main road into Tralee. It'll have to be from the hotel entrance. I don't think there are the same crazy queues for McDonald's feeding out onto the main road as there was when the lockdowns ended but its still chaotic enough.
Yes it’s KFC as far as I know. and the entrance to it will be across from the entrance to the hotel. Where the entrance to the overflow Carpark is now. The area for the McDonald’s extension isn’t affected.
There are still crazy queues out onto the main road! Its a joke up there. Between the drive thru for Starbucks & McDonalds, its so off-putting going there! When we do go to McDonalds, we always park and walk in. No point sitting in a queue of cars!
That McDonald's drive thru should be shut down. They are unable to handle the trade and it causes a constant nuisance and danger to road users.
That would be a fantastic solution which would prob end up closing the restaurant and ultimately job loses.
Im sure there are other ways around it.
There looks to be adequate room between the current drive through lane and the main road to work another lane or re arrange how the cars join the drive through.
The owners should be pressed to construct a slip lane in the grassed margin area doubling back on the existing drive through road which would allow more cars off the main road to join a longer snaked drive through lane.
It may not eliminate the problem entirely but would certainly help.
I’ve often wondered how much food McDonalds goes through in a day in that one location.
its not a particularly large building and yet the foot fall is huge.
It's shocking how much revenue those franchises generated. Back in the day, a neighbour of my sister's in NJ ran one (1980's). It was good for a million $/year revenue (obviously not profit.) The neighbour and his peers got together to gift one to an offspring that was getting married. Very generous of them. They all spoke in awed tones of one of their peers that owned 7 of them.
The goog says average revenue is like $2.7m/year now in the US. Even higher in the UK/Germany/... I imagine crazy profits in Japan, China, ultra-high-density populations
Personally haven't eaten in one in 20+ years, not going to start now, though tbf I was a loyal customer when I was a kid in the US the whole family would go out on a Friday night for meals. My father and a friend were going to open one but it fell through, pity, probably would have grown up in a much better neighbourhood as a result!
Depends on your definition of food 😏
That large housing development of around 250 homes planned for off the Fat Mile has been appealed to An Bord Pleanala by local residents concerned with the increased congestion it'll bring.
The development at boherbee is being appealed as well
Super king duvet for wash and dry where best reasonable launderette in town? TIA
Why is there a mosque being built in Tralee?
Lots of Muslims here.
why not? They have been planning to build one for a long time now.
Probably the one up in Strand road, not sure of prices though. You could also use the large ones up beside Spar in Oakpark.
Why not? It's only a slightly different flavour of doolally to all the churches currently in town.
Descendants from the blasket islands I guess?
You have a lot of waking up to do and fast.
Rock on with your racism elsewhere please. Further ranting in the same vein will lead to a thread ban. Mod.
That appeal will never succeed. Those houses will be built there.
I seem to remember Starbucks having a long hard fight to get their place open, and I imagine that KFC's fight will be a lot harder. The hotel would probably have to be demolished to give them more room. 😛
If I'm looking for fast food, I go to Burger King to avoid traffic jams.
