So, I moved house near the end of October. Felt we were paying too much for SkyBB, TV and landline, at at cost of 132.00 euro monthly. Had been with them for 13 years, so was out of contract. I tried several times to cancel the subscription as I felt it was too much, and another company were offering a much better deal, including mobile phones, so wanted to changeover, as I was moving house, and it seemed like the right time.
I rang several times back in November to notify them of my intention, only to be put on an endless loop of employees, was holding on for so long each time I had to hang up. In the end I was left with no option, and cancelled my DD as I felt this was the only way to get through to them, and lo and behold, I got a bill off them this morning, via post, for 132.00. My intention today, as I am supposedly off work, was to resolve this issue, had no problem paying them the 132.00 for October with intent to make clear to them that I was cancelling the entire service. I tried all of their numbers, and some provided on another forum here, but they all point in one direction. Just pay. If one pays, they will assume that the account is continuing, it was like hitting a brick wall. I tried chatting with their bots, but to no avail. They tell me I can't cancel the service until I pay for November and December as well. This would be almost 400 euro for a service that I am not receiving. Surely this amounts to extortion? I was onto a FB bot, a Whatsapp bot (they all have human names) but they cannot interact as a live person would. They just keep directing me to pay the full amount, which to me is continuing the service that we wish to cancely. Oh, by the way I did get a live person, but she put me through to cancellations 'team' but was hanging on for 25 minutes and gave up. Nothing new there, completely going around in circles.
Is this behaviour in breach of consumer rights, or has anyone got any idea how to deal with this company? Very much appreciated in advance
