Why do I get the impression that Nova and Classic Hits are getting their FM feed from a 96 kbps digital source? Both channels sound flat and quite frankly dreadful compared to Sunshine, Lyric and RTE Radio 1.
Both good bands.
They advertised his show today (maybe he's gone back to NZ for a longer holiday?)
Simple Minds are a good band , Simply Red just makes me want to scream abuse at the radio , awful awful awful cod soul dirge.

In the last two days, I've heard three different Springsteen songs played on nova. This is not unwelcome - usually it's the same song you hear three times in two days!

He is still listed on the schedule on the Nova website as hosting the 3-7pm drivetime slot.
Presumably he's home in NZ on holiday, they still advertise him as the drive host too

Genuine question, whilst the play list is some what repetitive/questionable what is the secret to Novas success of late?
It doesn't really have high profile presenters (maybe PJ ?!?)...
They had behind the scenes changes some time back with Dave Kelly and Liam Thompson coming in to consult/program both Nova and Classic Hits.
Theyre both vastly experienced radio programmers and I’d guess they’ve been working away in the background.
They play the same songs every day
what would they be working on ?? trying to get listeners to move away from listening to their smartphones and podcasts ?
They play good music, most of which is recognisable to a wide audience.
This playlist is pretty standard rock fare, and while this is a cardinal sin in the eyes of a tiny number of internet posters, it's exactly what most people want to hear.
No great secret really.
A lot of it I wouldn't even call rock.
My Guess is that PJ and Jim in the morning is a success (Compared to last breakfast show anyway, its a better fit for station ) and they're just holding on to the audience throughout the day
