The Russian MOD has acknowledged the Ropucha-Class Amphibious Landing Ship, Novocherkassk damaged last night. Question now is how severe the damage is.
That looks a lot more serious than the Russians are making out. Well done Ukraine
That hit has saved a lot of Ukrainian lives.
Yeah, but don't tell that to Vladimir.....😁
Yeah, but you are not condemning Putin for creating the meat grinder, are you? Ukraine's ongoing and successful fight against Corruption is the prime reason Putin invaded... a successful break-away ex-Russian state bordering Russia is the death knell for Putin's Russia, and the end of Putin also. And he's fully aware of that.
So what likely fired the missiles at the Crimean port?
Will Ukraine recruit all the men that have flown back to Ukraine from Ireland now for Christmas holidays?
There is a suggestion online that it was carrying shaheed drones from Iran. This seems unlikely to me as they would need to pass from Iran to the mediterranian via a third country or go around Yemen. There is a far easier route through the caspian sea. Though given the size of the explosion and the quality of Ukranian intelligence, it seems like it was carrying something
Shaheed drones are launched from Crimea, it they don't use the bridge for transporting them there, that only really leaves ships. I don't think the ship came directly from Iran, just that it was carrying Iranian drones aka shaheed drones.
Iranian/Russian drones or North Korean artillery ammo whatever it was it was explosive. There's no way one or two long range russian missiles would leave such a large ship as a pile of broken metal. It ignited something big within.
I wonder were there many crew members on board.
@Perseverance The Second "Question now is how severe the damage is."
There are reports that the captain's favorite armchair was damaged.
That's a significant explosion 💥
Not F16 🤣
So it looks like the sinking of this $150m plus (and arguably irreplaceable due to sanctions) ship, its cargo and the damage to the port and other vessels doesnt matter because Russia has proclaimed (again) that it has conquered Marinka. Reliable reports from trusted blue checkmarks on twitter are suggesting that Ukraine could surrender at any minute now that Russia has an almost unlimited supply of Marinkan rubble to equip its storm Z battalians with:
Bits of the ship were scattered around the place
Been a bad week or so for the Russians, 5x jets shot down and a ship becoming a semi-submersable. To think this time last year there was endless attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure resulting in mass blackouts.
Love it,
They will come out and tell it's new art installations
Alexi Navalny has been tracked down to 'Polar Wolf' prison in Russia's artic region
Looks like one of the ship's magazines cooked off. Reminds me almost of what happened to HMS Antelope during the Falklands war. I'd say that ship is a total loss.
Box of matches going up judging by Russian reports, just one died.
Hopefully.
Great week.
It's still relatively mild in Ukraine and Russia has only been firing a few missiles at them. Do you think they're actually that low on them or do you think they're stockpiling a couple Hundred for Jan or February when a really cold spell arrives.
Either way a definite improvement to a year ago.
TBH,
This was badly needed.
The RU forces have been making slow but steady gains last couple weeks.
This was as much a moral booster as a tactical success.
5 jets and one major ship in one week and mealy-mouth Sean Bell is still going on about compromise. I wish he would shut his trap.
It is said that the major battle for Ukraine next year will be the US elections. Russia has increased military spend and intends to hang on at least until then..
Well he knows more than most when it comes to this stuff, I'd rather listen to him than some random Joe on social media who has zero creditability or experience in war
This is what "damage" looks like
Da, dat vill polish out.
Keep it going Ukraine
.
The Joy would be like a 5-star hotel compared to the prison where Navalny has been sent to if it is anything like the infamous Black Dolphin Prison. (actually, that may be where he has gone?) But having said that, Putin (despite all the talk about his re-election being a done deal) must be worried that things may not go according to plan, and sending Navalny to a prison like that, is a pretty clear and present warning to everyone and anyone who might be thinking about causing any ripples in the election process.
