Mass shootings seem to becoming more common outside of the US
The system of Czechs and balances?
If you look at the US you can get a concealed carry permit to allow you to carry a pistol concealed on your person in the Czech republic you can get a concealed carry permit to cover any type of firearm along as you can conceal it on you that can be anything from a pistol, shotgun to semi automatic rifle, they also have a good hunting culture and shooting ranges all over the country
This is the weapon up close. It has been damaged by falling from the roof of the university so the buttstock is missing and the magazine is smashed but it is an AR10 and the bullets seen laying around it are consistent with 308s
Absolutely, by way of coincidence I just saw an interview with a homeless girl in London, she’d been on the streets for a couple of years…. When asked how come she isn’t getting help or fast track housing…
“im not getting it because…I’m not a drug addict, I don’t have psychological issues, I’m not pregnant and I was born here”
problem is these armies of mental health advocates want to normalise it. It’s not normal. The results are…. 💁🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
lock these individuals assholes up until it can be without reasonable doubt ascertained that they pose not a single threat to society.
Looks like a Zev .308 Semiautomatic
Did he kill himself or was he shot?
I'd hazard a guess the cops killed him, he apparently killed his own father before turning up at the college
The police were already looking for him before the shooting started, presumably in relation to the death of his father.
It's been reported that he was scheduled to have a lecture in a particular building of the college and the police were searching for him there but he went into another building at the opposite end of the college, up to the 4th floor, and started shooting people. He must have known he was about to be caught.
Looks the shooter is suspected in a double murder of a man and his 2 month old baby a few weeks ago in the Klanovice forest park
So he was on the police radar, if only thoroughly investigated lives might be saved
I wasn't aware guns laws were laxed over there
RIP the victims
There is regulations you have to be over 21 to apply for a firearms licence,16 to apply for a licence for a hunting rifle/shotgun,you have to pass a background check,a medical and an mandatory exam to pass before you get a gun
I've nothing against guns, wouldn't mind going hunting some day, but I can see nothing that, that gun can be used for except for shooting people. Your not opening up on a rabbit with that or an bird. I know they have wild pigs and deer over there but you don't need semi Auto for that.
Prague is a great city, been a few times in the last 10,20 years. this will hurt them tourist wise.
The guy looks like your average student, bit of a gobshite, "What is the reason for your purchase of this weapon" should have been first question by the cops or who ever is in charge of Licensing guns there. How could you explain your need for such a weapon?
Of course you wouldn't use one for rabbits and birds but in the Czech republic you have deer, Bears, wolves , they are also used in target and competition shooting ,
You'd spend a significant about of time incarcerated if you shot at a Bear or Wolf there.
No one needs semi auto hand canons to hunt, it's a myth perpetuated by the window lickers who just love guns.
Most hunters would have a bolt action .308 or something like that and a specialist rifle for competition I would think.
It's the same old story of what is the need for Military Assault Rifles anywhere in civil society?
Wonder what percentage of our population you'd be "treating"
Am I really? Thanks. I'll take that as a compliment.
Yes, I think automatic weapons and the like should be in the hands of the army not civilians.
...........?
Article 5 and 6.
I think we've finally reached Peak Irish Person with this post.
Only 'official' Army personnel are allowed to shoot Russian soldiers dead. Says NYT reader from South Dublin.
There is no difference between a semi automatic.308 rifle for hunting and .308 hunting rifle, they both do the exact same thing except one looks tacticool and the other doesn't
Is this Friday Fantasy?
Whenever there is a shooting in the US, as sure as night follows day, disaster porn junkies and consumers of Hollywood movies will be regurgitating politicised nonsense from biased media outlets. Result is we get hysteria about spree shootings which are very uncommon, even in the US. We also get references to "assault rifles" when they are rarely/never use for homicides. Also, LOL at the reference to a hand canon in this thread - won't be shooting much with that - well, maybe a photo.
Actual assault rifles seem to be easier to obtain in the Czech Republic than in the US yet as per my previous post, the firearms homicide rate in CZ is just under half what it is in Ireland. Other heavily armed countries like Germany have an even lower firearms homicide rate. Looks like the problem isn't gun ownership but Paddy.
Germany also has a, historically, a much better road fatality rate than Ireland yet they also have the Touristenfahrten which would give Paddy a heart attack SHUR WHO NEEDS TO DRIVE FASHT, BAN THIS FILTH.
Actual assault rifles seem to be easier to obtain in the Czech Republic than in the US
How did you come to that conclusion?
It's quite easy once the paperwork is in order
It's not just paper work though is it?
But the claim wasn't it was easy the claim was.
It really isn't. While the Czech Republic would be a permissive gun country relative to Europe, gun safety advocates in the US could only dream of having similar checks and systems in place.
So the claim is absolutely false, the gun simpletons in the States routinely hold up the Czech Republic as an example of how a country can have lax gun control and have no mass shootings.
So both claims are actually false.
Hoops to jump through in both countries but no equivalent of the Hughes Amendment in CZ. Result is that actual assault rifles can be obtained for 700-1000 euros as per the below link. Whereas in the US, they cost north of 25000 dollars.
In spite of this, CZ has half the gun homicide rate of Ireland.
Hoops me Hoop.
Your claim is absolutely false.
The gunman who killed 19 kids and two teachers at a Texas elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, was a local high school student with few if any friends who officials said legally purchased two assault rifles and scores of ammo last week for his 18th birthday.
The gunman who
Well you're talking out of your hoop anyway, not surprising I suppose given your "hand canon" comment. My point is absolutely proven. You don't know what an assault rifle is and neither does CNN. An AR-15, as used by the Uvalde shooter is not an assault rifle.
Paperwork including a medical report, and a mandatory exam and being over 21 and 16 for hunting
