I think Williams will beat him. Wright is not in great form and Williams is a really good player. Those odds look right to me as most would have Wright as slight favourite to win.

Steve Lennon playing today too and Mickey Mansell tomorrow in round 1 too.

Radek szaganski born in Poland but lives in Dublin so we will claim him too

So is it 9 days leading up to the end of the 23rd Dec with 2 days only having 1 session

Have a hotel booked for 18th Dec 2024 and be great if I had the option of an Afternoon and Evening Session that day. Obviously tickets hard to get

Sgananski lives in Cork. If he retains his tour card he is in the Matchplay

2 from Ireland on today plus Radek.

    Paddy Power's influence maybe!

Yes just last Friday and Monday with 1 session.

The event should be a double session on the 18th December next year.

Final could be Wednesday January 1st. Finals night played apart from a Thursday or Friday.

Heavy metal walk ons all the rage for the lesser known players this year.

We don't really know the schedule other than recently they've finished off Round 2 on the 23rd. And under this format that requires 16 sessions.

Next year is a Leap Year so that means 23rd is a Monday. If they stuck with this years exact schedule they would start on Sunday 15th with one evening session, then 2 sessions every day except for one day with just one session.

If however they prefer to start on a Friday (which gives them a weekend of darts compromising Friday (1 session), Saturday (2) and Sunday (2)) then there would need to be more single-day sessions during the week to balance it out and still lead to the second round completing on the 23rd

Be great if Szaganski won this 3-0.

Not just for the local scene but also for how terrible the game has been overall.

christ 2-1 down after missing seven to take the set

    This is torture

Poland vs Finland that's a rare enough matchup

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,816 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Okay good, Radek turned it on at the end. Six of the last seven legs to win.

Now he just has to beat Barney on Friday to keep his card.

Ian white beaten too. Gian van Veen and Richie edhouse beaten by international qualifiers too

Steve 2-0 down. Think he's going to Q School.

Lennon looks like he would struggle on the WDF/Modus side of things.

Bates has played very well for someone on his debut.

Lennon can't buy a double to save his life. Been his problem for the last 2 years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,170 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Did Bates change his nickname?

Lennon having a shocker on the doubles. I'm curious why Ireland doesn't have a top darts player. Even the North have Gurney Rock and Dolan. Is darts just not popular in the Republic.

Seems to be the issue with all the Irish players so far this year.

    Lennon fighting back though.

North has a greater level of competition and a lot of events.

Its a big deal up there.

Its only in recent years the Republic has produced a few players on the circuit.

William O'Connor is about the best of them. He has ran into 3 semi finalists the last 4 worlds. Can give most top players a run although he is very inconsistent.

There's not enough tournaments here so not as many chances to play. Simple as that really.

Didn't they have an 'irish cup final' before the Grand Prix final in Citywest ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,778 ✭✭✭shockframe

    Fair play to Steve Lennon.

Not someone I enjoy watching TBH but a great fightback.

Serious bottle from Lennon to come back and win that. Great stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,380 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Fantastic comeback from Lennon, kept his head amoung the boos from the crowd

Three sets 3–1 to come back to win. Nice one Steve.

He's now provisionally 64th in the world, and has a very good chance to keep his card. If Hempel wins, then it comes down to Steve vs. Radek for the final card spot (assuming Kleermaker retires). If Hempel loses, Steve is secure (again, pending Kleermaker retiring).
