Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
oh, now that's just fcuking lovely, sod all chances of tickets though
Decided to go for a european festival this year. Off to Opener in Poland in July. Foo fighters, Dua Lipa, Sam Smith all announced already...tickets for 4 days were about €250
What a beautiful surprise for a Tuesday morming! Just bagged Friday night tickets for Patti on the Foggy Notions mailing list access! Woohoo!
Button Factory, Dublin // Tuesday, 25th June ‘24
Tickets €32.65 inclusive of booking fees available on Thurs 14th Dec at 10am
Ooooh lovely! Good day so far!
May end up going to the Kooks day. Probably won't.
Lyra back again, seems to be every year since this fest started. Pretty sure it's an annual thing for Dec pierce too.
Waterboys? For a kid fest it seems they're aiming at late in life parents in their 60s with the Waterboys.
If I were booking I'd try for Bell x1, the darkness, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Magic numbers, Jake shears, Mcfly, The Coral.
Plenty of mid/lower level bands that fit the grade. This is just lazy.
A lot of anniversary tours at the moment.
20 year anniversary landfill indie tours and 25 year anniversary douchebag rock tours.
Well some Irish trad fans will be happy, the Bothy Band has added a second show to their tour, happening at Belfast in the Waterfront Hall on 25th February.
Seems to be sold out now.
Lower and ground areas available just there a second aho
I generally prefer the 50 and 60 year ones, although no news on the Stones and AC/DC yet......
Nice to see the up and coming acts
This image popped into my head when you said that...
Young Angus does not fall into my Zimmerframe Rock definition yet (only artists over 70 when I see them qualify, which means the upstart Ronnie Wood is in there already)
Picked up a standing ticket for Patti Smith in Vicar Street in June, a bit surprised it's not an all seated gig. Not entirely sure I picked wisely but I'll live with it.
A big YES to Ty. A small no for Patti. I enjoyed her more than i expected at ATN but not enough to shell out for her own gig.
That's a week of heavy hitters (for some) straight after Beyond The Pale; Ty Segall, LCD, Patti Smith and Jane's Addiction.
The Glastonbury effect of acts using ireland as a leapfrog before heading to Bristol
Foggy Notions teasing more announcements on Friday and Monday. Tweet has a sun emoji so dunno is that a hint to who it might be? I don't have a breeze either way so no need to guess! ;) https://twitter.com/foggynotions/status/1734593594822894010?t=oj-Nr3VXlh2ioFAFp6nkxw&s=19
Open Ear festival back in Sherkin island on June bank holiday weekend. Looks like tickets will be on sale before line up out which is an interesting move for such a small festival. https://nialler9.com/open-ear-festival-announces-dates-tickets-for-2024/
What’s viccar street like moderating seating tickets? There’s some cheap restricted view tickets down stairs but sure their all connected to the standing?
Whats her voice like these days ?
I saw a clip of her singing People Have the Power with U2 a few years ago and her voice was completely shot.
Yeah wouldnt bother sitting anywhere downstairs.
Her voice is still fantastic but Ive seen her a couple of times where its just temporarily worn out from too many gigs.
Thought Patti Smith had passed away tbh. Nice to be proven wrong
Didn't someone from that hippy era die in the last year or 2 ?
You can just stand downstairs in lieu. Though obviously it will be jammed. So arrive early to get better view
I saw her at All Together Now 2019 and she was the stand out of the festival.
An absolutely incredible live performer.
Seating downstairs is just a place to put your coat! I've no idea why they sell them as seated. As soon as standing fills up, you literally have someone's behind in your face if you continued to sit. Get standing, or if you've seating downstairs, prepare to stand anyway.
Surely you can just buy a downstairs seating ticket and stand on the main floor? I've never seen anyone in Vicar Street forcing people to stick to those downstairs seats. Then again, i wouldn't have been at too many sold out gigs in there so maybe enforcement does occur.
This. And every time I've seen her in the past 10 years.
Patti Smith is not from "that hippy era," but if you're thinking of one of her contemporaries, you may be thinking of Tom Verlaine of Television, who died in January.
Also, very much not a hippy.
