Absolutely, even good news gets complained about.
Governments are there to make decisions and award funding. When they do, that is to be welcomed.
Local club here got more funding for pitch's etc. It is great to see because you have so many kids playing sports now.
Not sure what the poster wants? to not invest in sport and then wonder why kids are all over weight?
The increase in rugby in Connacht has been noticeable with the success of the provinces. If they can upgrade the stadium they get more fans in and more kids in. The kids then want to follow the people they see on the pitch and play sport. This is great
I suppose he/she would prefer the kids sit at home on twitter moaning about everything with no exercise?
And what is wrong with a government TD claiming credit for it. Their party is in government, the grant was awarded under the policies they put in place.
You vote in a TD to represent the people in the area, the TD is supposed to go to government and help get this money for the local sports clubs etc.
If the TD wasn't doing it you would be rightly questioning why they got voted in to represent the people?
Trying to connect it to corruption? baffling
First you made up some story about me trawling the internet and complaining about something. As I explained I didn't trawl the Internet. Secondly, I asked a question and didn't complain about anything.
Thirdly I haven't mentioned any corruption yet you say I have been waffling about it.
If you're going to continue to quote my posts please do so accurately.
As you said
"Cool story bro"
Another incorrect quote. Why do you continue to make stuff up? I'll ignore your posts from now on.
Thank you for telling me that you are ignoring me.
I'd vote for a change of government but the current alternative is Sinn Fein's basket of deplorables Nationalist Socialism.
Political fatigue or apathy should never be an excuse for putting bad people in government.
We need to learn from what has happened in the US with Trump and in the UK with UKIP/Tories.
Come the next election, there is serious soul searching needed.
The one common denominator from that article is that either one of or both FF/FG have been in power. Which doesn’t bode well for the future.
I remember the '80s.
We don't generate enough economic activity in the state even now to fund our, much complained about, lifestyle.
The French politician wasn't wrong, we are a nation of champagne socialists living off our convenient location and flexible morals.
Picture says a 1000s words.
What the Fúck is Leo doing in Leitrim other than looking for votes.
Do you think Leo can magic up the 747 beds just like that? Isn't that what the Minister for Health is for?
Who's de boss? Where does the buck stop? Optics are everything.
Yeah it's true. Hospital situation can't be sorted out overnight. Also it can't be sorted out over a decade either.
No but he could be making sure they have everything they need to staff the hospital, placed for older people to go or support for them when they get home. It should me much higher priority that pressing the flesh in Leitrim
FFS . . . Always someone else responsible. Never the responsibility of a do nothing taoiseach.
If Leo being in Leitrim is what is wrong with Irish politics we are in a much better position than I thought.
Did this really need its own thread?
Mod - I have merged the low effort link dump thread complaining about Leo visiting Leitrim following the mini tornado there.
This is probably the best place for 'ZOMG LOOK WHAT FG DID 😡' posting.
Do you think that he actually looks over everything? Have you any idea how a government works?
Ehh, was there not a natural disaster in Leitrim?
No there was a tornado that caused some damage but as far as I know thankfully nobody died or was seriously injured. But you have 700+ people on trolleys in a hospital where last week there was report into the death of a 16 year old who was let fester with sepsis.
That should be a much bigger priority that Leo pressing the flesh to score a few votes for the local candidate. He's looking out for his own party, himself and the country last.
Right, a tornado in Ireland is not a natural disaster...got it.
Actually he should be able to source a few just down the road from the tornado
(I know it's a 767 but couldn't resist...)
It looks like a boat was overturned and some debris blown on the road.
Hardly qualifies as a disaster of any sort.
Speaking of an actual disaster, great article today in the Guardian on FFG's decade of housing failure and how it's given fuel to the far-right.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/dec/11/ireland-housing-crisis-far-right-europe-refugees
Maybe do a bit of reading about it before you post nonsense like that. Christ.
I should be reading about the zero casualties, zero injuries and minor property damage???
Again, if you want an actual disaster, here's a decade of FFG housing failure
supported by all the other parties
Did all the other parties create and sustain the housing crisis which has led to all this anti-immigrant sentiment?
