No, anyone can run for any office in the US
Not a chance he'll get that gig.
My money is on Kristi Noem..
Plastic, vacuous doormat - Just the way Trump likes them.
Another domino...
I think he'll probably go for a woman on the ticket this year as VP. I wouldn't bet against Kari Lake. Just the kind of fruit loop that he'd go with.
Hopefully Marjorie, that'd really make things box office and boost ratings through the roof.
Hopefully she has a Palin-esque sinkability.
I chuckled at an analyst's description of RDS's debate facial expression as a 'seasick smile'.
Ramaswamy and RDS trying to protect the identities of online trolls.
The Deep state has testicles everyewhere.
Now that's a good point. Having Marjorie 3-Names on the ticket as his VP would kill any chance Trump's ticket would have to appeal to moderate voters.
Also knowing Trump, he would be single-minded enough to go for the "ratings winner" as suggested earlier. Never mind making a tactical choice for your VP, no....go for the ratings, and ideally a MAGA cultist who'll subvent democracy when you ask for it.
He won't pick her - She has too much of her own media profile and he won't want anyone potentially taking focus away from him.
He'll likely pick a woman , but he wants a Stepford wife as VP not someone with their own profile.
Someone like Noem ticks those boxes - She has sufficient MAGA street cred without ever actually displaying anything like a personality or an ability to steal his limelight.
She's ideal MAGA arm candy..
I would bey against it as she is confirmed to run for senate!
Looking at the betfair market for this, Noem, Stefanik at 6/1 the 2 joint co favs make sense, Vivek at 10/1 seems unlikely as that would be the most annoying ticket ever and then Haley and Scott who are about 12/1 or so.
Well he went for the Stepford husband last time
True..
He took Pence under sufferance as he was told he needed him to shore up the Evangelical vote , he doesn't need that help any more.
The evangelicals are all in now.
He needs help with "Suburban Moms" so that's why he'll go for the Stepford wife this time.
Noem is ideal - "pretty" (but plastic) in that very typical middle American style, with a bit of Conservative street cred , but utterly unthreatening to Trump and his ego..
I will stick to my earlier prediction that he'll pick neither a woman or someone who isn't white, as his misogynistic and racist half-brain couldn't stomach the idea of being that close to a non-white male for a potential 4yrs. If I was his strategist, I'd push for Haley as VP. The top 20 or so with the bookies for his VP were either non white or female. The best odds for a white male VP pick were Tucker and Don Jr, neither of which would be a massive shock. If Kushner hadn't gotten the windfall from the Saudis etc, I'd say he would have been very much in the convo also, but his nest is now neatly feathered. Bannon will be driving a lot of Trump's tenure if he is elected, directly or indirectly from the sidelines, as he did the on the previous run. He's a dangerous animal, and is pretty happy to see the world burn.
VPs don't have to be anywhere close to the POTUS. Dick Cheney, joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been the exceptions. Once if he's elected Trump will ignore the VP.
I doubt it would stop at feet !!
What's especially amusing is the timing. I've read where if no-one has declared for a special election by end today, gov. Newsom doesn't have to authorize one. The seat will be filled in the 2024 election 😀
Maybe not....
This another one of those politicians who finds his voice after he left - and people are all supposed to admire that?
Yes, apparently. I remember when John Bolton's book came out and everyone glossed over the fact that he was a key player in the events he was describing.
Gag order reinstated in the election interference case, with the exception of comments now being allowed about Jack Smith.
I don't really understand why there is so much pussyfooting around when it comes to Trump and his obvious intent to corrupt potential witnesses. Running for President is a choice. Observing the law of the land when it comes to witnesses is not a choice. If it were anyone else in this situation, they'd have already been arrested and held in custody.
Interesting situation here in Florida. The chairman of the Florida GOP accused of sexual battery and rape, and is being asked by everyone in the party to step down. Whereas, Trump has been found liable in a court of law for a very similar crime, yet they're not even whispering about it. Says a lot about the GOP these days.
So very hard to believe that people will still hold their nose and vote for this complete fraud*.
Then MAGA get a pass, they're in a cult*, but the rest of them know he is a degenerate* racist* rapist* and still will vote down party lines.
May they never escape the shame.
* Used to be denied, since proved to be true
Well that didn't last: McCarthy kisses the ring that ousted him from Speaker.
Former US House speaker Kevin McCarthy has endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 race for the Oval Office while also expressing interest in joining his administration should he win, even though loyalists of the ex-president drove the congressman into an early exit.
Retirement obviously doesn't create a spine.
But he's also just ensuring that he has an ability to make money from the MAGAs.
Because that's all that matters.
Money money money they all see the gravy train of Trump.
Well, why not? Don't have to pass any legislation. Just wear a suit and preen for the cameras decrying 'the other.' Great gig no wonder they fight so hard to hold on to them. McCarthy's got plenty of spine - no soul, but spine when it comes to furthering his own ends.

I hadn't really taken notice of The Heritage Foundation before, but if even a fraction of the Project 25 stuff is true...
Make authoritarianism great again.
I hope he remembers to put some money aside for lawyers.
I mean who the hell looks at the number of Trump allies currently charged and thinks "I better try stake my claim early to join Trump in his second term..."
Apparently he's more yellow, than orange...
