This man can purge his contempt of court anytime he wishes by abiding by the court, lets also remember that.
yeah, but what he believes in is contrary to equality legislation and an impediment to his role as an educator. he bullied and harangued his principal, became subject to injunction, which he defied and contempt of court which he refuses to purge. he's not a martyr or a prisoner of conscience, he's an idiot.

Enoch Burke is not in Jail for his "beliefs" he is in jail for his ACTIONS.
He is absolutely entitled to his beliefs, no matter how repugnant the vast majority of people find them.

All this could have been handled quietly and easily had Enoch for even the briefest of moments behaved like a normal functioning member of society and followed the clearly laid out procedures available to him for conflict resolution instead of choosing to set everything on fire and behave like a loon.

@Quin_Dub already outlined the particulars, but this is demonstrably not an issue of persecution over beliefs, but a very rigid sequence of legal decisions Burke has failed to adhere to - including a refusal to purge his contempt.
Dont be shocked, this is how the legal system works.
Enoch would be mad to purge his contempt and face his family for Christmas. The annual family Carol Service won't be the same without his contribution though.

I know they are lost causes but the state should be looking into any kids THEY have, especially if they want to go down the home school route. Enoch doesn't seem to be able to function in normal society at this point and looks like he will be jailed for life when he could be out easily. Furthermore, he is fully supported by the parents, who should really be telling him they'll be down to pick him up shortly. I'm entitled to take issue with any future kids being indoctrinated into this because my own tax money is now being spent on this prison stint and it looks like I'll be paying for it for quite some time. What are the odds on one of the other kids being put in prison over something similar and taking more money out of our pockets for this nonsense
